Dealer says he cannot make changes once ordered?
 
Quick question for the forum. I placed an order last week for Black Overland, Saddle, V8, 4x4, 730n. I forgot to tell them I wanted the Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection. I called them today and they said no changes can be made once the order "has been picked up by the system." They said I cancel the order or look for something coming in but if I thought something was coming in I would not has custom ordered anyway.

Anyone know if what they are telling me is the fact or have any experience with making changes once the order was placed?

If you ordered Adaptive Cruise Control you have Blind Spot and Rear Cross path. He is correct, once it's been accepted and moved to C status it cannot be changed. I don't know if if can be changed in one of the "B" status's but it's likely it can. Mine went to C status in 2 days so they may me telling you the truth.

I don't how its linked to the the different status codes....but I do know that there is a very limited time to change an order and that not all things can be changed (even if you try to early) as I tried and the dealer ended up having to order a second vehicle.

When he recieved the first vehicle I ordered he sold it in a matter of days (he was happy he got it quickly...as it was labeled a sold order). Also there is no such thing as a "cancel" in the system from what I've been told, even if you don't want the vehicle the dealer still gets stuck with that vehicle.

My dealership somewhat reluctantly managed to change my new vehicle's color twice before I settled down. . . in the two weeks since making my deposit my order has languished in "D" status, which worked to my indecisive advantage. In both cases the Regional Sales Manager had to be contacted to make the changes as mere mortals are not allowed access to the "big" computers in Detroit. My understanding is from D1 status on out it becomes virtually impossible to change anything.

My experience also was that the dealer can get the order changed within a limited time frame, but that it necessitates them calling a district manager or some higher authority. I ordered my Overland on January 11, one day before the new 730 RHR radio became available. I told them on the 13th to add the 730 radio, which they did. I then went to the auto show in Detroit the following weekend, saw the Saddle interior, and decided I wanted it. I contacted the dealer and told them I wanted to cancel my Inferno/Beige order if necessary and wait for Saddle. They suggested we leave the order for the moment. While I was out of town in early February, Saddle became available. On their own initiative, my salesman has his owner contacted the regional sales rep, who changed my order in the system on February 4. The following week, the order went to D1 status, and it has been built. I am waiting for delivery, but have been able to view both my dealer's order confirmation sheet and the window sticker for my built Jeep. Both verify that the truck has the Black/Saddle interior and the 730 radio. Long story short, it looks like both Wreckdive and I were able to change our orders within the timeframe of your order or even longer. Have you signed up to view your Jeeps' build status on Milous' tracking thread in this forum? Using it you could see its build status for yourself. If it's still in D status, I'd think it still could be changed. Ron

That is true from the Dealers perspective. They can not make the change at least in D status.

I was in D status and I wanted to cancel the DVD player and get the pano sunroof back on. We tried everything on their computer to do it, while I sitting there with him looking right at the screen. The edit order button was in fact disabled. What a bummer..

Buuuuut, I got a call two days later.

Zone Rep to the rescue!! Needless to say I am now getting the Pano sunroof on my order which is now in D1 status. It can be done, just not from the dealers computer system.
