Towing

I just bought an Overland with the Hemi and the tow package IV and I am wondering if its wise to wait to tow anything until after certain amount number of miles. Currently I have 700+ miles. I would be towing about 2500 pounds.

Welcome!:wavey:

In my opinion your good to go when it come's to towing. The Hemi engine and the transmission that it's coupled with are proven and reliable.

Hah, 2500 lbs, I would have hooked it up in the dealer lot and driven it home. Honestly, I think you are fine, the hard parts in the drivetain have had plenty of time to wear in.

I have a 5500lb 16' V-Nose bike trailer I'll be towing well over 2500 miles this spring and my only preparation will be to change the oil and filter @ 1000 miles, I'll be using synthetic oil simply because that's all I've used in my motors for well over 15 years.

Re: Towing

The owners manual says to drive moderately for the first 300 miles, and do not tow a trailer in the first 500 miles, and then, when you do tow, do not exceed 50 mph for the first 500 miles of trailer towing and also don't accelerate hard from a dead stop in that first 500 miles of towing either. You already have over 700 miles on the vehicle, so you should be fine. Just don't drive too fast or accelerate too hard for the first 500 miles of towing.

I say 700+ miles = grip it, and rip it
