1st long trip
Well I took the first long trip in my Overland V8. 675 miles over 2 days. I thought the seats were great. No problem driving 300+ miles at a time

While doing 65 mph I got over 21 mpg. At 75 mph I got 20.2 mpg. This was with 2 adults and about 200 lbs of stuff in the back. Not bad. Its better than I got with my 3.7L V6 Nitro. It also nice having a 480 mile range.

Re: 1st long trip
One of the best features of the WK2 over my old ride.....the bigger gas tank. Sounds silly, but being able to commute for a whole week without refilling is actually really convenient. In my Caddy I had to refill every 250 got very old. Easily going another 100 makes a big difference.

Good deal. I got the V6 and drove from SW Pa to Columbia SC over the last weekend. I had cruise set at 75mph and got 23.4mpg. Our Jeep only got 1700 miles on it thou so still breaking in.

Re: 1st long trip
I just put ~2K miles on mine for a nice ski trip and the Overland was a very comfortable road machine. Seats held up to the longer road sessions well and I was getting just over 21 mpg with cruise set on 80. Road noise is a bit more than I'd like on the Interstate, but stereo covered it well. Overall, this is going to make a really good ride for road trips.

Very nice to hear and is in line with my experience too. Being used to big German sedans, the WK2 is like having an S-class or 7-series that simply sits higher and can go just about wherever I want in any weather/road condition...and it tows well.

Took my Overland Hemi to my sister's house over the weekend. About 300 miles round trip. It drove great and I averaged 21.5mpg while averaging around 70mph.

Was anyone using adaptive cruise control? i wonder if that would help gas mileage?

I was using cruise but not adaptive. My guess is that adaptive cruise would not get as good as standard cruise becasue it brakes for cars ahead of you. With standard cruise I just go around them (assuming 2 lanes) thus keeping the speed more constant. Constant speed = best gas mileage (all else the same).

Re: 1st long trip
Constant speed only equals best gas mileage on flat roads. It is my experience that allowing the car to speed up while going down hills and slow down slightly while going up hills produces the best fuel mileage. On my trip that I mentioned a few posts up, I was accelerating slightly down hills and letting the car slow down slightly on the uphills. On that trip I was basically trying to keep the "ECO" light on as much as possible and it definitely seemed to help.

My regular commute (only 15 miles each way) is about half highway and the other half back roads, and I have only been averaging about 14.5mpg on my commute.
