This just isn't right!

Another Summit ordered and with in 5 days is in D1 while others are waiting 2 and 3 months! WHY????????? Im in the middle so I can't complain but what about these guys that have waited way too long with no answers. This is not right!

Must depend on the options selected.

It's not the options it has more to do with rail car loading and destination. If you notice many orders sit in rail yard being inventoried over and over. Once so many rail cars fully loaded for same area then the shipment is moved out.

So if a person is lucky and places order just before a shipment is ready for delivery say.. one week before, then he/she may receive there new vehicle fast while others like me have to wait and wait.

I don't think it's primarily the rail car issue... it seems as though the logjam is focused on Summits... if it were the rail car then people would be waiting 2-3 months for Laredos too.

I agree! I am now furious with Jeep. I am sick seeing others going to D1 and my order sits in D. My dealer is useless. He can't tell me anything until it goes to D1. No one can explain what is going on. I will never buy another Jeep again. More than likely I will not even purchase the Summit I ordered. Luckily, I don't urgently need a new vehicle but when you have your heart set on something & willing to pay $45000 in cash for it but treated like some sort of second class citizen, it leaves a very bitter taste.

It seems to me that the rugged brown summits are the ones with the huge delays. I ordered mine on 1/19 so i am in the delay boat. Not yet scheduled. It is certainly infuriating, but i cant wait to get mine.

I believe someone posted here that they saw Rugged Brown Summits on dealer lots (albeit with the 430N).

Just be patient, I waited 8 months for my '06 Jeep SRT8, it sat in the rail yard for 2 months until someone on the Jeep hotline saw the mistake and got it shipped. I will say it is frustrating seeing orders after your's that are already D1, I wasn't in a rush when I ordered but after a few weeks in D status I'm ready to get it built and delivered.

I hear you! I ordered my Summit on 2/10 and still in D status with no real time frame for delivery! This weekend I am going to go look at the X5. If I like it, I will abandon the Jeep order. very frustrating....

So here is another thing to throw out there. While we wait on out 2011 vehicles to be built, the 2012 versions are getting closer and closer to release (however it is quite some time away). that being said, a 2011 Jeep is depreciating while we wait on delivery... ie, a $47,000 vehicle may be worth $45,850 by the time delivery is taken in july 2011... any thoughts on this?

I have been in D1 since 2/23...order was officially placed on 1/7. I would think mine would get built really soon. I honestly don't know what is up with such long wait times....either Jeep is really backlogged (which is a good thing for them) or they are having supplier issues. I would think all orders from January should be going D1 soon. It does seem silly though that when you're ready to hand over $48,770 MSRP during a recession where Detroit's very survival is at stake that they'd kick it into super high gear to get them built....but then again, it is Detroit.
