So, I probably wont make many friends with this post but i think it has to be said.

I understand the the WK2 has not be in the hands of enthusiasts or tuners for that long and hard parts are coming slow.

Why is no one talking about cams/intakes(plenum, not a plastic tube)/REAL exhaust, not just a cat-back/hell even heads.

The threads I see in the Engine performance section of this forum is really disappointing. I mean guys askin about K&N filters and oil changes....seriously. Lets go guys, we need some real performance mods in this sub-forum.

I'm not saying I'm gonna be the first to rip apart the hemi and stuff in new internals but we should at least be entertaining the idea.

I'm not totally familiar with the Chrysler family of engines but I would have to assume that the truck engine and the one in the Jeep is the same....except maybe a top end.

Sorry for that little rant, I just need to say something.

Bring on the rebuttals ;)

It's gonna take enthusiasts to get the ball rolling bro. Start by calling some well known hemis tuning shops and let them know what you guys want. You guys will have to get it started.....

this forum is open to ideas. you may get bashed but not banned.

anyway, here is my take. I am from the WK world but its mostly the same.


1. about 90% of Jeep owners dont ever MOD a thing. bought and sold in the same condition. i mean they might buy some mats or little stuff like that but thats it.
and probably for no other reason than they use the Jeep to get from A to B safely and soundly. These types mostly have their Jeep full serviced, oil and all, at the stealer.

2. thenyou have the other 10% . Now of this 10%, 9.95% will do some small mods; LED bullbs, HIDs, CAI, exhaust, stereo, simple maintenance. trying to stay within mfg warranty as they are paying off a ~35-45K vehicle and are scared to lose it. Some even go a bit further then get reined in once they need to go in for warranty and the dealer threatens to remove their warranty because of some mod.

3. that leave .05% for anything outside the box, or inside the block, if you will :lol:
BUT since its such a small % with the JEEP you get very little vendor support unless that .05 goes UP like say in a car like a charger or ar a Challenger.

thats my take. so if you are looking for more than that, move on. you wont find it here. and BITCHING about it wont help except get you some BASHING BACK/

Become the thought leader in the area. do YOUR MODS and dont WORRY about what everyone else is doing. you want a CAM, contact Modern Warfare Perf in the vendor area and get yours going. post up before and after dyno or track results. That will MAKE others follow you.

thats how you get and find like minded people. put your shit on display and they will follow if they are interested. and if not; who cares you got your stuff.




last point; i have learned a lot of lessons modding vehicles over the last 30+ years. just do what you want and be proud of it; some will appreciate it; some will loathe it; some will copy it; and some will try to. its all part of it. and I am not just saying it; i have been there. I have a bunch of mods that 99.95 say 'he's crazy' but that .05 know what it took/takes and can truly apprecaite what you have done.

The WK2 is a unique product, it's gone much more up market than the previous WK and certainly more than any other Jeep in the lineup. If the SRT8 wasn't happening I think there would be an appetite for cams, heads and such but when someone has the cash to spend 40 large on a vehicle that's in the luxury class to start with, not a performance vehicle, the type to tear into the motor. There are also intelligent enough to do the math and realize for less than what they would spend tearing into the 5.7 they could have the SRT8 WITH A WARRANTY, sportier suspension, better wheels, meaner look, etc..... I think the SRT guys (and gals) are the ones who will be looking to maximize their performance with cams, intakes, headers, etc., not the basic WK2 Hemi owner. That being said vendors aren't going to tool up for a product that has no real market so don't hold your breath on expensive performance products on the 5.7 Hemi WK2's.

Just my take, YMMV.

Is the Hemi for the 2011 different than the Hemi from the other years? I would like to think that Dodge didn't change a whole lot from the previous years of JGC and the trucks. I don't know though, I have had Ford's my entire life and just got my first Jeep last weekend.

its the same hemi from 09 to date and there are mods galore. We have vendors here that have cams, heads, intake manifolds etc.

Which seems to prove out my point that the WK2 buyer isn't the type to tear into their brand new vehicle and those that have the cash (it's not cheap) are probably waiting on the SRT.

There's is NO use getting all serious with shit like cams, heads, etc until there is a tuner avaialable.

It's the old chicken and egg thing.

so there is no tuner available for a Hemi from 2009 and up?

nevermind, if the motors are the same from 2009 until now, here is a tuner http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...isplay&pid=150

Superchips has them also. I am sure we can find some more, that was a 30 second google search.

I probably won't mod my Hemi but it is nice to know that options are there if I want to.
