Nav software update question

I was going to get a new nav software update. Problem is, I don't know what unit I have. It has the 8 screen saver pics, nav obviously, back up camera and HDD/am/fm/iPod/and Sat. Anyway, I called my dealer, they said discs are no longer available or they don't sell them. Just for Jeeps has a disc, but since I don't know what unit I have, I cannot tell if their product is compatible or not. the dealership said to use a company called Navteq and I checked out their site. The difference in price is neligible... So.... can you help a fella out?

As SvenskaJeepGu noted, you have the MyGIG. There are two types of updates available, map updates and radio software updates. The latter can be found online and you can download files to burn to disc (see http://mofv.com/mygig/RER.htm). The latest version is 2.402 which was released last month.

The map updates have to be purchased from Navteq.com and cost $199 plus shipping and tax. The latest version (2010) is p/n U0035-0070-001 which came out last June. The 2011 update is expected sometime this summer.

Re: Nav software update question

the dealership did a software update for the radio as it and the nav would just power out during long periods of operation.and stay out for a couple of minutes before returning to operation by itself...(long road trips) But the nav needs ia map update for sure.... How does the update work. I can't see a seperate disc slot for the nav, but apparently there is one? I will avail myself of the Navteq option me thinks. thank you and Sven for your assistance(s) .

I checked on this (NAV Disc) when I had the GC in the dealership for an oil change, $215. I have a separate slot for the NAV disk on my REC unit.

Re: Nav software update question

Well, I just bought the new update for the REC and honestly so far the same destinations that could not be given with turn by turn are still not able to be given with turn by turn. I did notice that a lot of the POI's are correctly named and with correct phone numbers and so on. I had the original disc that came with the 05. I bought my through justforjeeps.com super fast shipping.

No hack - you have to provide your VIN # when ordering, so the disc can only be used with your vehicle.

I checked Navteq a day or so ago, and their website listed Jeep as a manufacturer under the heading of factory built in GPS. I checked today, and Jeep is no longer listed. WTF?
