Rear suspension/end creaking

Hi guys-

My WK2 has a fairly loud "creak" from the rear suspension area that occurs at low speed over bumps. It seems to lessen as the outside temperature rises above 40F.

Has anyone else noticed this? Are there any areas that commonly need lubrication or something that might save me a trip to the dealer?

Thanks for the help

Paul

Thanks. That certainly sounds like what I'm hearing.

If my build date is after the TSB came out, does that mean it no longer applies to my vehicle? (ie the TSB was issued on 10/12/10 and my GC was built on 1/13/11).

The release date of the TSB means nothing. All TSBs have a NOTE saying which vehicles this TSB applies to. In the case of this particular TSB, the NOTE says :

Quote:

This Bulletin applies to vehicles with standard rear suspension. DOES NOT APPLY TO MODELS WITH REAR LOAD LEVELING SHOCKS (Sales Code
SES).
So it applies to all models that DONT have the rear load leveling shocks(these come with the factory tow group)

Just to update, I called the dealer today- the TSB does not apply to my vehicle (load leveling), but that others have complained about the same thing, and no fix is currently available. They claim to be working on it.

Anyone else hearing this?

I as well have the same issue, I brought mine into the dealer and they replaced both of my rear shocks. It seemed to help for about a week but I am hearing it again. I am wondering now what to do as well. My build date was 1/25/11 and has the factory tow group installed also. (I'm assuming it would have the self-leveling)

It seems to resolve with higher outside temperatures. When its below freezing, its pretty loud. The problem now is as it warms up here in the northeast, it will be hard to get the vehicle to reproduce the sound for the dealer...

I was starting to notice that...with the cold front we have coming through here in Michigan I should probably stop procrastinating and call service again to get my car checked out. I'm glad I'm not going crazy I thought it was harder to hear last week when it was warmer here.

Mine had the same problem, they replaced the upper shock mounts and all is well. As a side note my friend bought a ML350 around the same time as I did, had the exact same problem, and was fixed the same way...
