2006 WK shifting problems

Hi - New poster here.

I have a 2006 with 99k miles on it, the selctor -+ stopped working last week (PRND are fine). No check engine light either. Any thoughts - I have searched, and I would assume possible problems include the shift modules/ cleaning the contacts.

Thanks
Jon

its going to be your shifter assembly... I just replaced one for the same concern like 2 months ago. You probably do have codes for the concern but your going to need a scantool that can talk to the ESM (electronic shift module). The key dance and cheap code readers wont retrieve those codes.

Thanks - I have one of the cheap code readers from harbor freight that is supposed to do the Canbus, nothing is coming up as a problem when I do the scan. I will look at replacing the shifter assembly.

a cheap scantool WONT read anthing beyond pcm... some have abs ability. The code (s) in the ESM (electronic shift module) will not be read by your code reader. If you brought it to the dealer they could pull codes for you... I believe there is aftermarket support to read these codes but not in any 200 dollar scanner.

Cliffs notes: your scanner will not pull these codes, that does not mean they are not there ;)

I have a whole shift assembly for sale if you decide to go that route and replace it. It's from a 2008 SRT so I'm not positive of the compatibility for you, but if it'll work I'll definitely sell it for much much less than a dealership would charge.
