So Far smokin my buddie's v6 explorer by about 1.5 mpg but I think that would of happened anyway.18.5 mpg avg on the way down with the first half of the trip being nothing but hills.

Re: cheapjeep's trip to Disneyworld

Well on the first 650 mi of the return trip I averaged 20.5 mpg on the flatlands. I only bested this by a couple of tenths 3 years ago on a trip to the gulf so I would have to say I may not have gained any mileage I certainly gained in the fun factor.I don't know what actually helped more the K&N or the Flashpaq as I did them both at the same time but between the 2 of them they created a whole different animal. A mean one! All this on the 87 tune.Who knows what it will run like on the 93 tune. Totally transparent too until you mash it.Then you'll know and so will everyone else. Not so much as 1 ping on the 87 tune either. So if you're on the fence DO EM BOTH you wont be sorry. But beware if you drive it with your foot to the floor all the time be prepared to do a lot of transfusions:D

nice overland! wish i got 20 on the highway, and i have the I6!!! last summer going up north i usually averaged 17-18 and 16-17 towing my seadoo :( although i did just replace my o2 sensors and my city mpg has gone up a couple mpg so i probably will get 20 now. im sure it would help if i wasnt going 75-80 (when not towing btw) with the a/c on hahah! might try going 65 mph this year and see what i can get without a lead foot! doubt that will happen!
anyway clean jeep, enjoy your vacation

Resurrecting....
Cheap, have you tried that Flashpaq with the higher octane yet? Any improvement in day to day MPG?

Ha I was just looking at this I was gonna try that next. I found a good deal on a flashpaq and so far used the mileage tune for some work road trips. Next up is the 91 tune. Hopefully it wakes it up even better than Dave says the 87 tune did.

4wheelonline.com has the jeep flashpaq on sale for 305.99 with free shipping plus superchips has a $25 mail in rebate if you are interested, thats where I got mine.

Wow actually forgot about this. You guys must be bored today.I also got a pm about this today from another member so I'll try to answer all you inquisitive minded freaky people here. Ok guys you have to remember that a lot of things happened together here. My first true performance mod was to snip that bastard #10 wire at the TCM thus eliminating that blight of the WJs torque management. Aaron I dont know if you have the Jtec system but being an'01 you should HO or not. This is THE best bang for buck free mod you could ever do to one of these V8 WJs. DO IT if you haven't already. Also I have a Transgo shift kit which is also in the best mod for under $60 category. Now to me these two have already made a vast improvement in performance cause it's not falling on it's face at WOT and it shifts right now. Gone forever are those sloppy take forever shifts the 545 is known for. So for a little while I was happy with this and my Powerwire(another JG fad nobody talks about anymore cause it eats your gas mileage though according to my data logging does work;18 to 20 degree lower intake temp the computer sees). But noooooo........ turn on your computer and all you see is K&N and Superchips so I had to have em. So this brings us to now and the 91 tune you guys are all drooling over. I only ever tried it once on cheap gas after being badgered mercilessly by a nephew and a couple of my buddys one night out in the Garage(you know what was going on there)I plugged her in tuned her up and even threw my powerwire back in for good measure.I WAS ON A MISSION.I tried to launch it at about 1800 but it was trying to spin through the brakes and starting to hop so I let off and left at about 1300.I can hold it back on the 87 tune.So there's a pretty big difference. Anyways the Bad nephew in the story traded his Grand Am on an '06 Hemi WK(I think he has plans for me)and my buddy isn't at all cocky about his Hemi Ram anymore.Truthfully I wouldnt want to live without the flashpaq but it may be the whole combination of intake, exhaust, etc. I've never run the flashpaq buy itself so your results may vary. They say 18hp on the 87 tune.I'd say definately. They claim a hefty 48hp on the 91.I'll leave the jury out on that one 'till I pony up for a tankfull from "E" of the good stuff.I will say there is a significant difference between the two.As far as mileage goes not a bit of difference on the 87 tune. The 91 tune will surely drop it some. Disclaimer:Expect significant mileage loss for first 60 days till you learn to drive like a human again. Hope this answers your questions guys.

 Yeah you couldn't be more right there! I haven't tried snipping the torque management wire yet, I will have to double check that I can do that. That said with just a K&N air filter (exhaust coming soon, my stocker should finally rust out this winter) I definitely like the improvements with the 87 tune. Im with you on the 91, its not cheap no matter what you use to fill these thirsty things up!
