Can someone describe the "shutter?"

i've got a WK2 Hemi, and i don't know if i'm starting to feel a shutter at 30-40 mph, or if it's in my head from reading about it so much here.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it supposed to be a "shudder" not a "shutter"..... :)

It's very similiar to wicked hesitation or a stumble upon serious acceleration. I tried to duplicate it twice today at 40 mph and couldn't.

Coast at 40-50mph for a sec so that the Eco light comes on. Step hard on the gas as if you were going to pass a car in front of you. The engine hesitates and then bounces up and down as if you were going over a rumble strip for a second. Then it finally finds where it needs to be and starts pulling.

That shudder is MDS being activated. It disables 4 Cylinders from the 8 Cylinders to save gas, therefore being ECO.

Re: Can someone describe the "shutter?"

Mds engages and disengages about a hundred times on a long trip so it's not that at all. This is a distinct error. The mds can barely be felt if at all I'd you are consentrating hard at feeling for it.
