NCTS 5.7 Cherokee Turbo Install Pics

Time to post up some detailed pics of the turbo install on our 2008 5.7 HEMI Grand Cherokee Limited. It now has over 7,000 miles on the system.

Enjoy.

Passenger side frame rail drilled for the water/meth injection pump.

With washer pump and level switch removed, pump removal allows tank to be drained, level switch is removed to allow removal of plastic when tank is drilled/tapped for injection line.

Water/Meth injection nozzle and 50MM Blow Off Valve (BOV). 3” SS inlet piping to the throttle body.

Radiator overflow tank relocation, black box to the right is the NCTS Oil Scavenge Pump control box, power buss, and houses the power switch for the water/meth injection pump. Black line under the charge pipe is the ˝” crankcase vent line

Stock ECU and wiring interface. White connectors are associated with the NCTS oil scavenge pump control system.

Ford Cobra fuel injectors that I am presently running on my Cherokee. 50 lb hr at our fuel pressure rating.

The crankcase vent line and the oil scavenge system electrical harness run along the radiator support frame.

CNC machined Black anodized aluminum vacuum block. Three of the five ports are used for BOV, Factory Purge solenoid, tap for iEMS3 and Boost gauge. Only two lines installed at this point.

Looking from the front rearward, nothing on the system is lower than existing stock components.

Looking from below forward, air inlet and filter are not installed at this point. Heat wrap located next to the driveshaft plastic slip joint boot.

Looking from front to the rear, system bolts up to the existing cat flange (currently must reuse your old muffler flange).

Location where I drilled and tapped for my Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) probe. Cable to be routed up into passenger compartment from below.

Charge pipe transition to passenger side front fenderwell, routing of crank case vent, oil supply and return, and electrical feed.

Close up of the wastegate, oil scavenge pump, boost control solenoid, oil and electrical supplies and returns, Bosch O2 sensor bung location (O2 sensor installed to left of wastegate), black header wrap on hot side inlet to the turbo (if you are going to do this, use 1” wide wrap, not 2” wide, as the 1” would be easier to wrap). You can see the stainless steel flex joint that we use in our wastegate installation for ease of fitment and thermal expansion.

A lot going on in this picture, turbo, wastegate, inlet and outlet sections, charge pipe forward, crankcase vent line, oil supply and return line, electrical supply, oil scavenge pump, boost control solenoid.

Close up of the turbo inlet, outlet, and charge pipe installation.

Looking forward at the turbo location. This is the new T4/T4 T70 with a shrouded air inlet which helps expand the compressor map coverage. Oil supply line visible at the top.

Looking directly from the side, nothing is lower than stock components (same level as fuel tank).

Looking from the side where the charge pipe runs up the inside fenderwell to the engine compartment. Not visible from above.

Exhaust resonator and tip installation, piping follows stock routing, and factory heat shield reinstalled. Spare tire removed for photo purposes.

Excellent write up Tim! I'm going to have to start my Thread soon now...lol.

Tim is currently building my turbo system and tuning my Jeep. I was down there last Sunday helping out on the engine install and man let me tell you guys Tim's Jeep is incredible and runs flawlessly with an insane amount of power!

You really have to ride in it to know what I'm talking about.
