5.7l Chugging Then Dies

So the wife say this morning she was heading to work and it was running rough and chugging, then it died (05 5.7l 75k). She cranked on it for a while, before it started back up. My first thought is the fuel filter, so I called the parts store and they tell me the filter is one unit with the pump. I really dont feel like buying a new pump if its not going to fix it. Has any body had this issue, or have a cheaper idea what it might be?

Thanks
Levi

Spark plupgs less than 10k ago, oil 3k (valvoline synthetic), tranny flush 20k ago. Planning on pvc valve here shortly.

Change the pvc valve and clean the TB by wiping it out with a rag or do the seafoam to the engine there is how to thread on that. Did it run fine after the spark plug change?

I cleaned the TB and sea foamed it when I changed the plugs and it ran great afterwards.

Doesn't seems like it.

Think I might look at crankshaft position sensor and / or camshaft position sensor. Since it is intermittent, look at the mounting, then electrical connection to ensure that they are tight.

After that, I'm not sure how to test. Might need to go to dealer for StarScan evaluation.
