Battery Discharge Issue? (Frustrating)
So after a long weekend in Austin visiting my fiancees parents the last thing I expected or wanted to come back to after all day of traveling was my brand new jeep dead in the airport parking lot . After using the emergency key in the FOB to open the car, and popping off the push button start, and trying to start the car i realize the thing was 100% dead, no lights, chimes, or anything. So now I'm mad, and having visions of having to pay $$$$ to tow the thing 50 miles back home. Luckily the airport had an emergency service that could provide a jump. The jumped finally worked -- ended up having to jump off the positive terminal in the relay box because the standard jump terminal would only turn on the lights - I'm guessing it couldn't get enough current through that terminal to turn over the starter...??

Anyways, was able to get it home and it started this morning no problem. Took it into the dealer, told them my experience, and they took a look at it. They found nothing wrong - at rest the car drew 15 milli amps, which i was told is well within spec. The only guess the dealer had was that the lift gate drew the battery down in the parking lot after i used it to unload my luggage. They are going to replace it next week under RRT 11-016 ( so we'll see if the problem arises again. I'll keep everyone posted on the status and if the problem comes back again.

Its frustrating after buying a really nice new car to experience these types issues.....

Anybody else experienced or heard of similar problems??

Re: Battery Discharge Issue? (Frustrating)
I heard of a few people having this issue(dead Jeep). Unplugging the terminals from the battery, waiting a few minutes, then hooking the terminals back up solve the issue.

Hmmm...thanks for the reply. Is there an easy way to acess the battery -- since its under the seat, or can you disconnect at the terminals under the hood?

You must do it at the battery.

I'm one of those who posted about a "dead Jeep". My issue wasn't a dead battery but a computer that wouldn't wake up. Jumping did nothing BUT, since the seats get power directly they worked so I was able to move the seat up and forward to get to the negative battery terminal and "reboot" the truck. I tried jumping but it had no effect so it was a completely different issue.

Any resolution on the issue you had with your jeep. Mine did the exact same thing. I dropped it off this AM and they don't have a clue what is wrong. Just trying to help them track it down.
