Weird electrical zapping sound on power down

Anyone else hearing a weird faint electrical zapping sound when powering down your WK2? It seems to come from under the hood or behind the dash (I can't totally pinpoint it yet).

It's not a motor spin down. It sort of sounds like electrical arcing or like a starship from Star Trek powering down (seriously!!). The first few times I heard it I sniffed around for burning electronics under the hood but didn't smell anything. I examined as much wiring as I can get to without tearing things apart, and nothing is burnt or discolored.

This happens both day and night, so it's not the HID headlights turning off....

Check the sun visor. There have been at least 2 fires.

Also check out this TSB. It mentions tapping noises under the hood at key on or off.

Mine has done it from day one. It is normal. I believe it is the fuel pump relay.

Oh and you have to have the door open or open it immediately after turning off the car to hear it.

OK; that makes sense. I don't hear it when I turn off "ACC", which makes me think it's not something electrical in the passenger compartment (sunroof, etc).
