A couple headlight questions...

for those of you who have done headlight modifications...

1) what do you use to seal them back up?

2) what do you guys use to fix broken tabs? i broke a couple of the tiny tabs that hold the lens (clear cover) to the rest of the headlight.

thanks fellas!

i broke a few tabs when i did mine its not going to hurt in thing. and i also used silicon to seal it back up. No fogging on the inside yet.

Re: A couple headlight questions...

i prefer NOT to use silicone cause if you need to open it again......you have to CUT thru the silicone. it does not soften like oem glue,.

I use butyl rubber. if you google Nissan butyl rubber you can find some that a nissan dealer sells/

or if thats out, then the 3m window weld ribbon.

Re: A couple headlight questions...

so you didn't even bother to repair them? i might just leave them go then and just get a real good seal on them when i close them back up. thanks!

Re: A couple headlight questions...

yeah thats what it cost.

you MIGHt want to take the part number to your local dealer. I got it the next day that way. the online got to take a few days, plus the shipping.

and the little tabs I wouldnt worry about them too much. if they were broken i just put extra butyl there.

you will want to get every bit of the OLD glue out. I used a few flat blades to do that. took some work but this way you know what the deal is.

then i lined the base with the rubber. I then heated it up a bit, like 10 minutes in a 200 oven to soften the butyl. I did my assembly and then used some strap clamps to squeeze the heck out of it and left it for 24 hours.

then installed.

Re: A couple headlight questions...

lol i have 1 more question:

how should i go about digging all the old sealant out? just heat them up again and scrape it out? or is there an easier way?
