Seeking independent Jeep mechanic, DC area

Guys, I've been spending most of my JG time over in the WK2 forum after bringing home a 2011 model in late December. But I also have an '04 WJ Limited that I bought used a few years ago. I drove it for about a year before getting the WK2 and now it's going to become my daughter's daily driver when she takes her driver's exam in a couple of weeks.

It's been making some groaning noises when shifting into gear and also when making slow speed turns as during parking maneuvers. I want to get it checked out but since it is well out of warranty I would like to try an independent Jeep mechanic vs the dealer.

Any Maryland suburb/DC area shops that anyone can recommend? Thanks in advance.

PM Asativa! He owns a shop in Maryland!

Does it do it at Full Lock? I remember my WJ did that! I never was never to my concern that it was a problem! But I would get it checked out!

Thanks for the reco, Chaoul1. Yes, it complains the most when at full lock. It has done it for most of the time I've been driving it (Sept '09 is when I got it). It had been babied by the original owner; regular oil changes and maintenance and I don't think she ever even ate in it! Because of this history I kind of let it go thinking it was normal Jeep stuff. But it's a different story when you hand the keys to your daughter! Time to call in the professionals even if it's only for peace of mind.

We were doing some parking maneuvers and it was making a racket so I decided to get busy and ask for some ideas from the JG crew. Thanks.
