First 10 days- impressions, likes, dislikes?

So it's always exciting to get a new car (i just bought my wife a new Maxima, love it). When you test drive them it's great... love this, love that but then when you drive it every day for a while you start to realize that this could be better or that could be better, or, this is great, that is great. So for those of you (Dan for sure) what are some of the things you like or what are some of the things you dont like... plans are mine will be in next week (i'm pumped) so just wondering other people's impressions up to this point...

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and I'm at 1500 miles and I gotta say there isn't anything I don't like yet. I'm coming from havin a Lexus(5speed) Audi(6speed) and an H3. I gotta say this car has more than enough pick up and balls when driving and being able to pass, I have a heavy foot and have owned quick cars, and I'm not disappointed. also, the luxury of the jeep in unbelievable, nicest interior I've probably owned to be honest. The RHR and u connect is amazing, voice command work to perfection, and sirius always picks up traffic and reroutes me effortlessly. Also, the nav system let's you see all the gas stations in the area and lists prices which is unbelievable. I thought another awesome feature that I had no idea about till I was on the backroads were the auto high beams. When you have the auto lights on, and put ur high beams on, the car will automatically sense headlights as well as taillights in front of you, and turn your high beams off till you pass in which they go back on. I'm not talking about cars that are close, it was sensing high beams at over 1000 yards. I was shocked and makes driving on dark back roads effortless as well. Also, the sport seats are more than comfortable, I've always had back issues while on long trips, no matte what car, and on my first day, took the jeep 350 miles with no issues at all. The car has been way beyond my expectations, did take it out in 6 inches of snow and ice last week, and no matter how hard I tried, the back end would not skid out. I was a bit worried going into this car with all these negative posts and complaints, but these people must be Toyota owners pretending to have the new wk2 to hate on it

Excellent post Kennedy12... i'm even more excited now... i'm a huge gadget guy and it sounds like the jeep has most of the latest stuff. was worried about the harmon navigation as i have never seen it in use before but from what i have been reading most of the merks, beemers, and high end cars use the harmon

The ventilated seats are actually a nice feature...it is around 85 degrees down here and the cooling is nice....nicer than what I thought it would be.

The saddle interior on the Summit is awesome...I remember some early posts saying that the upper saddle was just too much saddle....NOT AT ALL...it is PERFECT.....so far love the Summit! For me, the brilliant black exterior just blends with the saddle/black interior and black olive wood trim that it is the perfect combo for me for sure...

What I would change?....I think the headliner, posts, and visors perhaps should be a custom color for the Summit for that price (although not a big deal at all, just a suggestion). I have noticed the perforated leather on the front seats is probably a bit loser than it should be as someone else had noted (although mine isn't as loose as that photo)....that may be because of the ventilation...so far isn't an "issue" but if it becomes loose like in that photo I would bring it to the attention of my dealer.

The bottom line, this is the best GC I have owned and I have owned 5-6 since the 1993 model....excellent choice.

the only thing, and i mean the ONLY thing i can find wrong with it is the strange feeling of a blind spot. i dont drive it every day as it belongs to the wife. when i get out of my truck and into her gc something is different. almost like the A pillar is in a strange place but not.

In the WK2 Review thread on this forum, the latest review says the middle console armrest is too high to comfortably use the autostick shift placing your arm at an awkward angle. Is that true?

Flyboy, I think I have the identical GC that you're waiting for (Mineral Grey Summit / 4x4, V8, RHR) and I can tell you you're in for a treat. In 2 weeks of ownership, mine has been 100% flawless and that includes a 5 day 1600mi Seattle to LA trip to bring her home....

As a gadget guy, you won't be dissapointed with lots of stuff to explore and learn about. The keyless entry capability has been a nice surprise. But to summarize my overall perception, I would say the car has a "presence" that I not only didn't expect, but haven't felt since I was a kid in my '80 280ZX.

Hopefully the truck will be reliable and age well. The build quality on mine seems quite good. Stuff fits, I would rate the paint quality as excellent (with minimal orangepeeling) and the quality of materials is better than I expected. Although there's quite a bit of exterior plastic on the car which concerns me, the styling and overall quality is lightyears beyond my '07 GC Limited.

I've installed a few accessories (powder black side steps, illuminated door sills, roof rack crossbars, and a change holder) which are like icing on the cake.

But get ready, because the cake couldn't taste any better !

^^^ Actually, that was something that I noticed that I liked...the slightly higher center console is more comfortable. I have never noticed an awkward angle...I don't shift while I drive so don't know why that would be an issue.

slampert - Change holder....photos? LOL

I decided to use a Gladware very small round container...holds probably $30 of change if mostly quarters...ya never know when you forget your wallet for something quick...

Don't believ so, I had 2 manual transmission cars before the jeeps and feels right to me. I shift fine, and if it were to affect me, heights wise, I would just raise up my seat a bit:cool:

That saved the $3.50 I spent! The change holder is a round thing so it rolls over in the center console with every sharp turn. Made by Bell. Avoid....

Had a real hot day here today. Near 90. My saddle dash was baking in the sun. Protecting that dash is going to require some planning...... If left alone I don't think it will last.....
