Grey Ghost Stereo Odyssey WITH QUESTIONS

Allright so I am no big audiofile and Im keeping this rather simple for now.

Currently:
OEM RAQ 6 CD which i swapped for the REF which came from the factory.
SIRIUS
BA speaker and amp from factory.
Steering wheel controls.

TO be installed:

Pioneer F90BT
Kicker Amp udgrade
Kicker 6 speaker upgrade

For the Pioneer, I have the following:
Harness
Steering Wheel Controls
IPOD
Pioneer Sirius adapter
Antenna Adapter
Nav Bezel painted by Daniel
Metra Adapter for the Bezel.

QUESTIONS:

1. It comes with a GPS Antenna, its about the size of a fig newton, where does that need to be located?

2. What about the mic for the bluetooth - visor????

3. It has this IPOD cable. Why does it have that long plug and a USB???? Remember I am IPOD stupid. never even held one

4. sirius: I have Sirius. I bought a Pioneer Sirius Interface thing. LIKE THIS MY QUESTION: Am I going to now need a Sirius box or am i going to be able to connect this to that and use the baby shark fin antenna ???

FUTURE:

JL Audio StealthBox
JL AMP for Sub

Hey rob! Don't have a clue on the whole Sirius thing...I would put your Bluetooth near the center of the overhead console, driver side of the sunglasses holder, or visor like you said...just away from the window is what I am thinking. I am new to the whole Apple thing as well, but this looks like your Pioneer has a USB in the back or front of it. That along with the RedWhiteYellow audio/video cable, provide audio and video through your headunit and the USB will charge the iPod through its main connection. If you use an iPod I would def use this, and you could create a docking station right above the shifter on the center console. Or just run that cable into glove box or under armrest OR left cubby next to the pedal raise/lower function. Hope that helps...somebody chime in if I am full of it haha

1. The factory location for the GPS antenna is above the instrument cluster.

2. The uConnect mic is built into the rearview. I could try to put the Pioneer mic somewhere close to that.

3. You can plug the USB into the radio, and then connect the iPod to the other end.

4. I think you might also need Pioneer SC-C1. The part you bought says this on pioneer's website "For use with Pioneer "SAT Radio Ready" Headunits and AV Receivers. Sirius Satellite Radio subscription required, sold separately. SC-C1 required for operation and sold separately." You won't be using the factory Sirius tuner - but you should be able to use the factory antenna.

The Fig newton can go in your tummy and the antennas usually get run along the windshield and put on the roof at the top of the window.

Otherwise sounds good.

Thanks guys. these answers really help the geezer.

ok so mic up top near center console/visor.

IPOD cable: I know the red/wht/yel connects to the radio. BUT still not clear what the other 2 do. the USB and the long connector are at one end of the cable. so its like they would be used in the same way. Im going to dump these intop the glove compartment for now.

gps antenna: i know the factory one goes in the dash on top of the nav. but its a lot bigger than this 'fig newton' sized one. and kyle said up top. CAN it go up under the headliner?

SIRIUS: right I need the SCC1, i got one of those too.

for the iPod cable - you will hook the USB directly into the head unit if it has a USB port on it, which is probably does. If that is the case, you will not be using the red/white/yellow. If not, you'll plug the RCA's into the radio, and then the longer, flatter connector will plug directly into your iPod.

The GPS antenna needs a clear view of the sky (i.e., no metal in front of it) so under the headliner will not work. The factory nav antenna is about the size of a fig newton as well, and it goes on top of the instrument cluster, not the nav radio itself. Use some double sided tape if you need to to sick it up under the dash somewhere (towards the front of the dash - the antenna will work through the plastic dash and the windshield). Usually Sirius radio antennas are placed outside of the vehicle (outside of the sunroof), but GPS antennas can go in the dash. However if the cord is long enough, you could route the cord up the A-pillar and to the sunroof and place it right outside of that if you wanted to.

I see most people with the satellite radio antennas on the drivers side top corner of the windshield on the body of the car. or pass side.

I agree. He should be able to use the factory Sirius antenna though (located in the center of the roof towards the rear of the truck), and then if he wants he can wire the GPS antenna through the dash, up the A-pillar, to the sunroof and out to the roof. That is what I would do anyway!

Do you mean through the sunroof? Wouldn't that make it leak?
