Anything is possible... your big problem is your flex plate followed by the torque converter are bolted to the crankshaft so the transmission would have to come out.

I just replaced a crankshaft in a 3.8l from a wrangler, I pulled the engine and would HIGHLY suggest pulling the motor. you run into the problem of getting the connecting rods onto the journals and when you have 8 of them it would be difficult with the engine on a stand, up side down, let alone lifting the 25lb crank and getting them onto the journals.

I have a spare forged crank with a 3.75 stroke......lol

hey guys thanks for responding. why would the tranny have to come out? i havent taken the pan off yet, but wanted to unbolt the converter and flywheel from the old one and slide the new one in. also do i have to check the bearing clearances? the crank comes with matched bearings. i just dont have the means to remove the whole engine and wanted to get this beast back on the road

thanks!
