New tires, ops on brand?
Looking at yokohama geolander HTS and ATS. I may be moving up north this summer so the ATS might be an attractive option, am I to expect much more wear using them here in FL for the summer or will I see a decrease in fuel economy with them? Leaning to the HTS simply because of the amount of rain we get here in FL, hoping they might give better wet traction.

Im changing from the forteras which are due for a change and my dad had suggested the wrangler SR-A's that he uses on both his jeeps but the reviews just dont match up to what he says (hes in WI and uses them in the snow, says theyre great, but I remember a time when i slid and hit a curb in one, popping it off....not great).

Other ideas welcome, getting them today.

Re: New tires, ops on brand?
i bought a set od goodyear wrangler silent armors last week- got an $80 rebate coming my way for them. they have a layer of kevlar so they are super quiet and the tread pattern is pretty aggressive in person, the pics do them no justice. i saw the sra's when i went to purchase them- didnt like them too much. i was looking at the silent armors of the firestones... the goodyears just seemed better to me. theyre ratings are pretty good too.

firestone destination AT FTW great and silent on the highway and amazing in snow and mud.

I put on a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM RF-10 a few months ago. They were awesome in the snow and ice this winter. I drive 90% in the city but do go on and off trail while hunting and camping and these tires are great for me. They are pretty aggressive for an AT but are surprisingly quite on the highway. I have a stock set up, but upsized the Hankooks to 245/70-17. They look great.

I've had the Destination AT's for about 20k now, and they are a huge imprvement over the Good Year Wrangler SRA's. Much better steering feel, cornering, and handling, and far superior off road. They hum just a bit, but not too bad considering all the advantages.

Re: New tires, ops on brand?
stay away from yokohama ht,i had them on my 04 limited, hated them, terrible cornering hydroplane in rain, suck in snow,i personaly love the forteras on my 08 limited awesome in snow in rain real quiet,i guess it dependes how aggresive you want the tread

Re: New tires, ops on brand?
Or what about the destination LE's, since most of my driving is highway right now (no offroading until winter) would they suffice?

Re: New tires, ops on brand?
Or would the 245/70/17's fit without a problem? stock are 245/65
