Locks wont lock???

I got home tonight and got outta the jeep and hit the lock button on the key fob, nothing. I figured it died or broke so i just opened the door to lock it, and the lock button wont work on the drivers or passangers sides..... The UNLOCK function works fine, but it wont lock, I have to do it by hand.... any help would be great!

first i'd check key fab batteries, then i'd check fuses, then if those werent the issue i'd look into a new switch.

I don't think you can lock the locks without the key. That's a feature to help prevent lockouts....

My Saab was the same way. I had to either stick the key in the hole on the drive side door or press the lock button on the FOB.

Ill go try mine and let you know.

Well heres what happened, it dawned on me while I was watching TV lol. I leave a key on a lanyard hanging around my rear view mirror and leave it in the ignition so that when I run out of the house at 2 am going to a fire call I dont have to worry about finding my keys. I almost always leave them in there and just use the fob in my pocket to lock the doors but I guess it decided it didnt like that so they wouldnt lock. I pulled he key out a bit so the door open with keys in ignition chime stopped and now my locks lock!

The doors wont lock with the door open... they will only unlock. Not that this is your issue, just glancing over the thread I saw some posts and wanted to clarify. you cannot manually lock the doors with any door open. The fob will always lock the door (doors open or closed).

Also consider, if the lock or unlock buttons are pressed too many times when your out of range of the vehicle the key will go stupid, If you put it in the ignition and start the car the wcm rolling code will resync to the key making it operable again.

I'm not sure thats true. I thought it was true...but I went out to mine the other night and sure enough, it locked without the key.

I do have a remote start with lock/unlock...I wonder if thats the reason why? I always thought my last WK wouldn't lock without the FOB or key.
