Rusty rotor removal

The backs on my WK were a biatch to remove but shooting wd-40 into each lug then behind between the shield and the rotor cut my hammer-time down from about 50 hits to 10. the wd40 penetrated really quickly to release the rotor from the rusty hub.

just a tip!

put some anti sieze, just a few dabs when you put the new rotors on; if you ever change them again they should come off a lot easier.

I'd recommend using a penetrant (PB Blaster, Kroil, etc.) over a water displacer (WD-40).

Had an old '89 Firebird that I was swapping the stock rotors on. Sprayed them w/ WD-40 (all I had on hand), let them sit for about 15 minutes then spent the next hour banging on them w/ a mini-sledge to no avail. Picked up some PB Blaster, another 15 minute soak, and they popped right off w/ the first or second hit. Have since used PB exclusively for rusted parts.

Not to say that WD-40 won't work, just that I've had better luck w/ PB

I second PB Blaster AND the anti-seize smear on the hub...standard practice for me anytime I do a brake job.
