FCW off

1 Attachment(s)
Was just on the interstate with adaptive cruise set at 77. Was behind a car that was exiting the same exit I was and I didn't touch the brakes to see how slow the acc would slow me down.
I got the "BRAKE" warning chime and the big brake alert in the evic.
As soon as I stopped at the light I got this warning message in evic

What does this mean?

Forward Collision Warning Off. Check on and around page 180 of the Owners Manual.

Re: FCW off

The manual sez:
"Forward Collision Warning OFF This light warns the driver of a potential collision with the vehicle in front of you and prompts the driver to take action in order to avoid the collision. For further information, refer to “Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)” in “Understanding The Features Of Your Vehicle”."

The only (relevant?) text from the manual in the ACC Features section is:
"Changing the FCW status to “Off” prevents the system from warning you of a possible collision with the vehicle in front of you. NOTE: In the “Off” setting FCW OFF will be displayed in the EVIC.
NOTE:
• The system will retain the last setting selected by the driver after ignition shut down.
• FCW will not react to irrelevant objects such as overhead objects, ground reflections, objects not in the path of the car, stationary objects that are far away, oncoming traffic, or leading vehicles with the same or higher rate of speed.
• FCW will be disabled like ACC below with the unavailable screens.

Previously, one had to purchase japanese motorcycles to bask in such clear usage of the English language.

Hi Diego,

I have the same problem and found another thread here, look for it by searching "FCW Off indicator". It seem to be a sensor that costs $1600 and so far the warranty has been covering it.

I am taking the WK2 to the shop this weekend and I'm briging a printout of that thread.

Hope this helps!

Re: FCW off

FCW OFF may also mean that your sensor is dirty. This happened to me twice, both times in muddy/slushy conditions. Cleaning off the glass dome fixed it for me. You may want to try that before taking it in.

Excuse my ignorance but can somebody tell me how to disengage the Adaptive component of the cruise control. I have the FCW off issue with the system and the dealer says they need to see it/ test it. In the meantime I would like to use my cruise for my 6 hour round trip this weekend. Any help would be much appreciated!

The standard cruise function is engaged by using the center button on the right side of the steering wheel. The adaptive cruise is engaged by using the far left button just below that. (Shows a car, speedo, and arrow).

Thanks Zoggan. I noticed if the radar is disconnected no cruise will work. Error may give same result. Will try and cross fingers!

Luckily it still works fine in normal cruise mode. The sequence was to use the Mode button until it said cruise control off (opposed to ACC off) then hit the on/off button to activate it. Just had to do it every time you restart the car though ( defaults to ACC).
