Idle problems

Hello all, I know this has been addressed before, but I took a video for everyone to see my concern. We have new spark plugs, the throttle body supposedly has been cleaned by the dealership. 2005 WK 4.7L V8. The video should speak for its self, however... when idling in park whether or not the air conditioner compressor is on, the vehicle revs erratically.
Any advice?

Re: Idle problems

dirty/bad injector? idle control module? (whatever its called attached to the TB) Maybe the crank position sensor etc etc. All the electrical crap needs to be looked at, 9/10 that will be your culprit :) GL

Okay, just received a call from stealership...supposedly it is my "throttle position sensor; it will take care of everything." $270 is the fee....

Anyone know if this is actually an easy part to replace on my own? Approximate cost of part?

Thanks

$270 is crazy for a tps......do it yourself. It just bolts to the tb!

Yep... sorry I didnt see this sooner, I could have saved you some diag money... the TPS is SUPER common on the 4.7l, not really sure why but it does this VERY regularly. Its the first thing I check if I have an idle concern on a 4.7l. Its 2 T20 torx bolts and an oring, very simple to DIY if you have a T20.

thanks guys. I looked for the part found it on autozone for 34 bucks. Looks like I have work to do. Yes, I wish JGC you had gotten to me sooner. I had posted a thread a week ago, but then I decided to video it. I am out $87 for diagnostic fees...plus the $34. Lets hope that truly is the problem.

It is important to note, once I called back and said no thanks, we will be picking it up tonight, we feel its something we can do on our own...I got instant attitude!

You can verify yourself, when you get it back, have the vehicle running, with the TPS bolted up and plugged in. Grab the TPS and try to wiggle it around... you will find your idle freak out as you mess with it.

I will say, a lesson for you, I have mentioned this exact diagnosis of the idle issue on the 4.7l multiple times, and I am sure the search function on this website would have shown you my aforementioned TPS test ;) Just a little insight for next time...

The search for these took me less than 1 minute, given I had some hints to show me the threads I responded to, to make my search quicker, but for even if it took you 45 minutes to stumble upon one of them it would have saved you 90 bucks ;). BTW, the reason I like forums is for the wealth of info and awesome people who give so much time to keep this place up (like scott).
