"Fake SRT8 Exhaust, opinions?

I have really been kicking this idea around in my head, and done research on ebay for parts needed and I can get it done for cheap money. Here's my idea, drop the spare tire since I have 20's anyways and spare wont work if i even needed to use it, buy the WK trailer hitch trim bezel and cut the bumper out in the middle to mount it, cut the tail pipe above the axle and clamp on SS tubing leading to the hitch bezel, then mount a dual SS exhaust tip. No, it wont be the srt8 rear bumper, but im thinking it will look good and def make it stand out from other WK's, like it does already. Can be done by myself for $150. And i know the hitch bezel has extra plastic that will have to be trimmed on the insides.

Any thoughts, downsides, looks stupid?

I think it would look ok...but what is all that piping gonna do to your backpressure, exhaust sound etc.

The length of the new pipe will be the same of the pipe I have now, im just routing it to the middle of my bumper instead of the right side. Delete the pipe thats there now.

One 2.5" pipe, with a dual tip.

But i guess thats why im asking everyone, will it work?

I think it would look great...but I am with Scott on the back pressure...make sure you look into what it will do to the performance and sound, I would rather it run great than look great IMHO

Are you thinking because of having two tips, the exhaust pressure will be exiting at a different rate and not sound the same as having one tip? If thats the case, my idea about getting 5" dual tips is out the door. Lol. 3" dual tips would be nice, match what i have on now with my magnaflow cat-back, but 5" would look mean IMO.

Blah blah blah, ignore these boys, the change you have planned for it won't make one iota of difference to it buddy.

I gotta ask why your spare is useless though? I have 22's and have used my 17" spare a couple of times ;)

Thats what im thinking too, it will be the same diameter tail pipe, pretty much the same length, just will have two tips instead of one.

And i say that about the spare because it is a different diameter as the 20's on now. When I had my 94 GC I was cheap and bought two used tires from a shop near me, but they were different sizes than what was originally on so they didnt match the rears. As soon as i drove out of the shop it was like the rear was pushing the front, chirping and sqeeling. Im assuming because its all time 4 wheel drive, all the tires need to be the same diameter. or else ill screw up the tranny or transfer case.

Plus I have triple A plus so i can get it on a flat bed home if needed.

Oh, and when I had my 20's off 2 weeks ago I matched one up to my stock tires and the 20's were very noticably larger, by over an inch.

Yeah, the exhaust won't be a problem at all. If you don't need a tow hitch or spare I reckon go for it!

You're always very creative Timmy....so I say go for it! It think if you could get it to work and have the regular WK bumper it will definitely stand out!!

Now I just have to buy some 2.5" PVC pipe and mock it up, see what I exactly need for SS pipe that I want to use. I think thats the best way to go instead of guessing and buying a bunch of expensive SS I might not even use. Hopefully I can clamp on an angle piece off the existing pipe, run a straight piece to another angle then another straight piece to mount the dual tip on. And mount hangers from the underside of the cargo floor, unless thats not a good idea?

Thanks, I actually got the idea from seeing WK's with the trailer hitch bezel from afar thinking it was an srt8, since it has basically the same cutout in the bumper. I know the srt bumper is lower, but since I lowered mine I think it will look good and wont be able to see the underside like the rear differential.

Keep in mind the pipe "grows" when hot. It will effectively lengthen over the entire length, and could grow as much as an inch overall.
To be honest, I'd take it to a shop to get it done, ****ing around with PVC templates and finding a flange would be just too bothersome for me.
Plus, if you take it to a shop, and it's crooked, well, they gotta fix it til it's perfect ;)
And getting the outlets perfectly aligned isn't quite as easy as it sounds.
Oh, and **** using clamps, fully welded or nothing.

What is your opinion on using aluminum tubing then? I wanted SS for the rust resistance, and its expensive for SS tubing so i was going to make up the difference doing it myself. Will aluminum last or will I be having rust issues down the road. i live in new england, so i see about 3-4 months of snow with roads full of salt. Not good for my underside.

Oh, and what do you mean finding a flange? I was going to go right off the straight pipe, no flange needed. And honestly, I know it will involve alot of fine tuning with the angles, but I think this mod is basic for me to get done. And I hear you on the fully welded, but my magnaflow came in two pieces, clamp in the middle after the muffler.
