Interior damage?

1 Attachment(s)
I am in need of some assistance and advice.
I have now had my JGC for 3 weeks now and just noticed the passengerís side trim is looking a bit funky on the plastic trim. It looks like someone scrubbed the trim with a hard brush and then covered it up with Armoral before delivery. Now that it is drying up a little out here (well it is real dry here) it is starting to show.

1. Should I take it back to the dealer?
2. What would be good to put on it if I do not take it back to the dealer?

I have also just noticed that the dealer did a crap job of detailing the vehicle for delivery. The drivers front wheel well black plastic trim has leftover wax all over it. I am not a happy camper  today with what looks like a vehicle that has been doctored up in some areas.

Did you buy it new? I have never heard of a dealer waxing a new car before delivery. I would take it back they will replace the part if it is messed up.

It was new and only 8 hours off the train transport.
I did find out today that they took it to a window tinter to tint the front windows.

The flat black plastic trim does seem to have a brushed look to it when dry. I don't like it but overall the interior is very nice. I will probably use some 303 on it.

Is tinting the front windows the "norm" for dealers in AZ?

Really? They usually wax the windows, too. Seriously.

I agree on the part replacement, don't accept anything less.

As for waxing, almost all dealers use a glaze or a paste wax applied mechanically to prep their cars so those who think they are getting virgin paint and fret about when the best time to wax aka letting the paint cure make me chuckle.

I had a friend make the local Porsche dealer spend over $2000 correcting the black paint on his Cayenne after a lot rat used a wheel on the paint in prep and covered the vehicle in micro swirls. That lot rat had been shipped over to the Porsche dealership from one of the dealers other lots and no one was watching over him, he was unemployed the next day.

Only if you ask for it and they charge you for it.

I made a mistake and should have just waited. It was going to be $299 for the tint and I did not realize it was for the front two windows only... Yes I got robbed and I can not even find out what they used. The dealer I purchased from is 4 hours away.

Next week it is all commking off for the ceramic stuff to be installed locally ... to include tinting the pano sunroof.

TK, from your photo, it looks like they got wax all over that plastic section. I can't imagine how slip solution from tinting would produce that kind of discoloration. Sloppy prep work !?!?

I second Silver's recommendation of 303 Aerospace Protectant. (Yes, that's really the name of that stuff.) Or I've had ok luck with Mother's "Back to Black," which might be easier to find.

Anyway the plastic will look like new in 5 minutes but you'll basically be applying one of these products to the plastic on a monthly basis over the life of the truck......
