The Heck makes a WJ shutoff while driving?

Coasted to a stop but it would've been crazy if I was on the Highway .

Gas full, 3 mo old battery.

I cranked it about 6 times then it started and pulled off like nothing happened.
Second time it's happened in a week.

Any ideas?

Crankshaft Sensor!

Try doing the Key Dance and see if any codes pop up on the Dash!

Crankshaft and camshaft sensor will trigger the same code most of the time. and they both can cause it to just shut of while driving. Cranckshaft is above the stater and you basically have to drop the starter out of the way to change it.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm gonna try the key toggle thing when I get home and see what I get.

No codes popped up... Am I doing it wrong?
On/Off/ On/Off/ On/Off/ On

May not throw a code. Has it happened again? It could just be dirt in the sensor.

Not sure if it makes a big difference, but normally you leave it in on at the third time and don't switch it in off anymore.

Yeah, this feels stupid as its so natural when you do it but off the top of my head the key dance is OFF/ON/OFF/ON/OFF/ON (leave it on). It should let you know you did it right no matter with like a "no dtcs" or similar... if your cluster does nothing:

It will show "Done" in the odometer when no faults present, or any fault code.
