where is the Serial number on the engine block

Where is the serial number on the engine block of a 2000 grand cherokee laredo? 4.0 i6 motor. Coolant level keep dropping each month to the point that the sensor goes off. Ive replaced the thermostat, but it still keeps happening. no tell tale signs - puddles, smoke, smell, check the oil and there is no presense of water in it. heater is fine. I read somewhere that the block with #0331 is prone to crack. Any thoughts are always welcome

All WJs have the 0331 head, which is prone to cracking.

Check the #1 spark plug to see what it looks like compared to the others, if its much cleaner than the others then that means your most likely leaking into #1 cylinder.

Also run a compression test, that can tell you things too, a leak down test is also a good idea in this case(can let you see air infiltration into the cooling system under pressure).
