Trailer brake mounting location

Has anyone mounted the trailer brake some where different than under the steering column? I was considering puting it in the center cubby under the climate controls. Pictures would be helpful. I have the tow package and the wiring kit from the glove box, so those are not issues. I would be interested in your thoughts.

I have mine under the headlight controls, but it is a knee basher when getting in or out. I looked at the center cubby, but the way the door opens makes it tough to mount a bracket. You can get wiring in there after removing the center dash cover (it just pops off)

You can put it anywhere, I put mine under the left side of the dash where 99% of them get installed.

You need to remember that wherever you install it you need to have quick and easy access in an emergency without having to open any doors or take your eyes off the road. They may also need ot be mounted at a certain angle depending on the type of controller. As long as you meet those requirements you're good to go.

both of mine are below the headlight controls, only drawback is that I hit it with my knee if I'm not careful. But I wanted to be able to access the controls easily, under the light controls seemed to be the only option.

Here is where I put mine. Might not be the most aesthetic location, but I like to have it easily reachable and seen without taking my eyes too far off the road. That is 3M Damage Free picture hanging strip from Walmart. It is supposed to be removeable with no damage to the surfaces. I'll look for something black later.
