1,000 miles in... a few observations

Almost 1,000 miles into the jeep (not even two weeks old, picked it up with 13 miles on it) so i have had some time behind the wheel.

These are in no particular order just thinking outloud.

i'm 6'1, 240 lbs. came out of a suburban and denali. switching from those 2, the drivers seat compartment is a bit smaller and the seat more narrow. After a few days of figuring out how to adjust the seat properly (i cant stand my knee touching the right console area) i finally got it adjusted properly and am settled in. taking a 3 hr road trip this weekend, will know more about the comfort on long trips then. 7 out of 10 on the seat so far but i have a fat ass so that's to be expected.

Sport mode rocks. love the transition of power to the rear wheels and the different shift points. i'm starting to drive in this mode more often. i'm curious if the "aerodynamic mode" makes a difference on gas mileage on the interstate vs. auto mode. i'll test that this weekend.

Adaptive Cruise. Best thing ever in the whole world. i would pay double or triple for this feature. i use it every day.

A/C seat. love it. keeps the swamp ass away in the humid NC days.

730RHR. getting used to it. it's better than my first write up as i get more effecient with the controls

One other one i forgot to mention. When you're in drive, you let you foot off the brake on an incline, the vehicle stays in a brake mode position for about 2 seconds. this allows you to get your foot from the brake to the gas without rolling backwards. very cool feature.

It's a Jeep... kinda hard to explain that one. It feels solid. It's not too flashy like my denali was, but, draws interest from those who know "jeep"

I'm sure there is more but wanted to share these quick notes of items I have enjoyed while in the cockpit...

Glad to hear you're enjoying it and getting her all dialed in to your preferences.

I'm driving mine from DC to Myrtle Beach tomorrow for a combo double college visit separated by a weekend at the beach. Looking forward to seeing how she does MPG-wise on an extended trip. Brutalizing the fambly with an 0400 blastoff time!

Have a good road trip, kaflyboy.

This is exactly what drew me in. I'd never owned a Jeep... in fact, this was the first car I bought (instead of my parents... I'm 27, couple yrs out of law school). My dad was trying like hell to get me to buy a Lexus RX like his (roughly the same price)... but I just couldn't see myself in a Lexus (or any luxury brand, for that matter... besides the fact I think the RX is a little girly looking... didn't tell him that). The WK2 was perfect... "common" enough to not have the elitist label... but nice enough and recognizable enough to not be seen as a piece of junk.

Freaking love it.

My Dad drives an RX and I tell him that every chance I get.
I say to him all the time, I saw 10 RX's today...Guess how many were women drivers? ALL!!! :slapfight::slapfight::slapfight:

However, he does like the new WK2 SRT8, so maybe there is hope!

Glad you're enjoying it and getting dialed in to your preferences. The WK2 after thousands of miles has me desiring nothing different. I rarely have had a vehicle that is a joy to drive and relaxes me as much on a long trip as this one and I'd compare it to a somewhat-recent Mercedes-S550 in overall driving pleasure. My first Jeep and even I keep thinking what I hear my friends say when they ride in it: "THIS is a Jeep?"

The ACC feature on long road trips is unreal, and it was an option that was literally thrown in since it was the only model the dealership could get me. I drove from Detroit to chicago and didnt touch the pedals once.

I've got a little over 1000 miles on mine now and I'm digging it. So far nothing to complain about and it's running in nicely.

Tuesday we hook it up to the 5000 lb trailer and drag it around the southeast and midwest for 2 weeks, about 2500 miles total. I'll post up how it handles the load when we get back. BTW, I expect to get on average about 10MPG so I won't be bothering keeping track, just making sure there's enough money in the account to cover the $1000 fuel bill :(
