What is the DEAL with the 05, with the 5.7 Wiring Hardness falling appart?

Just about all of my wiring hardness's around my 5.7 eng protective covering has & is failling apart, expossing the small wiring !!!!!

I am also having all kinds of problems with my electronics.

My Transmission over heat dash lite come on after only driving for few miles. Then my eng at well started to change the rpm from 600 to 1200, just all over the place then it would stall out. Then the eng out of the blue would start running correctly! Now I have a ETC dash light on without any throttle control! I now also have message dash saying ESP Disabled!

I am thinking I just might have a short with my wiring hardness.......!!!!!!

Does Jeep have a recall with this matter?

Interesting! In addition to my 06 WK, I have an 05 LX that I purchased new in July 04, and I have not had any deterioration of wiring harness, nor have I heard of anyone else having a problem similar to yours. About the only things I can think of is that yours has perhaps been repeatedly overheated, someone has been screwing around with it, or critters have been chewing on it.

I'd do the easy stuff first to see if it corrected the problems. A few things I would do first are:
1, One at a time I'd pull all the fuses and relays in the Forward Control Module (FCM), clean the contacts and firmly reinstall them.
2. I would carefully pull all the affected convoluted plastic tubing ( black flexible covering over the wires), inspect all the wiring for damage and repair as necessary, and install new covering. The tubing is available at your local auto parts store.
3. Pull the negative battery cable for ~1 minute or so and then hook it back up. This will reset the adaptives in the computers.
4.You may want to also check for Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) that may apply to your vehicle, and have them accomplished. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tsb.htm

I am sure other members can add to this too, so stand by for more input.

I just had to change all my lifters and I did notice that the protect plastic casing is very brittle and in some cases missing from some of the harness in and around the engine. Now I'm not talking about the wiring itself, but the black plastic tubing that the factory uses to cover the wire looms.
