stalled out while idling

Hi guys and gals,

Any suggestions? So I am parked and idling in front of Meijer's waiting for my wife to come out when all of a sudden the Jeep starts revving up and down.... up to 1000, down to 500, up to 1000, down to 500... so on and so forth. This happened for about 5 minutes or so then it just decided to stall out. Although it started up right away, I'm a bit concerned since my wife and kids drive it all the time all over the place. Also two weeks or so later it happened again but this time it cranked and cranked a few times before it finally started. I have about 47K on it and I was wondering if anyone has run into this before. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. Have a good day and happy Easter to all.

Best regards,

Wil

Re: stalled out while idling

could be many things..... i had a stalling problem and it was a loose throttle control harness. it could also be a faulty egr or some other things.

I'd start by checking your Idle Air Controller, if the piston gets sticky with carbon it will cause that exact same problem. It regulates your idle rpm by moving a piston rod in and out to increase or decrease air into the engine when the throttle plate is closed.

2005 WK is Drive by Wire. IAC is integrated to the throttle body. It may or may not throw a code. Also, there may be an issue with the EGR system.
Ill check star cases and tsb's and fill in if I find anything.
