Do Not Try This at Home

Unless you know what you are doing. New audio components include:

- Alpine PDX5 Amplifier
- Rockford Fosgate P3 10" Subwoofer and custom fiberglass enclosure
- Focal Access 165 Front Component Speakers w/ crossovers
- AudioControl LC6i Line Out Converter

This one was worth paying the man to do it, and it took a MECP installer two full days to figure out the stock wiring in the WK2. He had to chase down every wire and signal by meter since no reference materials exist. I couldn't watch, as at one point there were more WK2 trim parts and seats outside of the vehicle than in it.

At the end of the day, the stock amp stayed in the vehicle to control head unit outputs, we then stacked the new amp on top of it, and added new front components and a new 10" sub. A 6-channel line out converter and the new amp went under the rear seats.

Night and day difference in audio quality, though we had to tweak a few things. Namely, the stock sub enclosure vibrates and needs some homemade sub enclosure sauce now that it's kicking it. Also needed to isolate slight static at low volume which was easily solved by turning down the outputs on the line-out, and there is a few codes to get cleared in the WK2.

Such is the life of a serial modder. Somebody stop me, please.

Mwaahhaaahaaahahhaaa.

Ouch.

Stock sub. Didn't know Alpine's were made in China?

Stock Chryco sub enclosure of plastic that distorts any reasonably powered sub. Tried to drop in 8" Kenwood with 300 watts to it and it sounded horrible, had to step it up to customized fiberglass sub box and 10" which kicks it.

Stock 6x9 components from front doors. Meh.

This is the new shizzle. It's so damn clean sounding, may have to add new rear door speaks as well.

Sub under center rear seat. There's about 4" clearance to top of springs underneath seat, no heat issues at all.

AudioControl LC6i Line Out box underneath driver side rear seat.

Nice choice on the new fronts, but the invoice with two days of work had to be KY lubed! Did you add sound deadening while the trim was out of the vehicle? That sub buzz may be difficult to eliminate.

Nice to see others doing the stereo mods!!
I hope to get my JGC back today with the following:

New Alpine head unit with nav and bluetooth
Focal K2 Power
2 ARC amps
JL Stealhbox with JL sub

Quite a challenge to find a place to mount the amps but the found a space behind the spare. It is really tight but that is about the only place to put them without totally modifying the storage.

Once I get it back, I will tty and post some pics!!

Moosehead.... You know if you would have just waited a few more months the new JGC SRT comes with the following:

New for 2012 is the available 825-watt, 19-speaker premium SRT performance audio surround-sound system from Harman Kardon® that includes a 10-inch subwoofer for the ultimate in sound quality.

Not the greatest but a nice system and no one has to take your ride apart.

Moose, I don't even know if you're Catholic or not, but your wife is going to be the first-ever person canonized as a saint while still living.
