Age has a way of helping give "fatherly advise". I'd stick with the stock size tires. When you change tire sizes, you change just about everything. The speedometer will be off, the automatic shift points will be off, your torque convertor will lock up at a higher speed possibly reducing fuel economy at lower speeds. The odometer will not record the correct miles. If you pull a trailer, the larger tires will change the gear ratio and put extra strain on the whole drivetrain and lastly that I can think of would be tire rub in the front when you turn. We used to be able to do just about anything we wanted with the older cars, but today with the ECM being programed for the "stock" setup, you're playing with possible problems. I love the wheels you have. They are like mine. They are in my opinion the best looking wheels they ever put on a Jeep. Only problem with them is the possible peeling of the chrome which has already started on th inside of mine. Mine had over 100,000 before I got it used last year. Harsh winters do the chrome in. So if your's are still good, keep them clean and waxed. That really helps as others will tell you. Good Luck

Ryan a 245/65 17 will fit and give you a little bigger tire. Most brands make a tire in that size too. Also you're staying under the 3% size difference so the speedo and computer won't mind much. You could always go Superchips and set everything spot on:D

If you're going to go with 20" wheels, do (255/45/20) tires. They are EXACTLY the same overall diameter as stock and you will have zero negative effect.

That's what I'm running now...polished SRT replicas from OE wheels. I got 4 wheels and 4 tires, mounted, balanced and delivered to my door with center caps for $1400.
