Pano Roof / Sunshade Noises?

Just beginning to enjoy my new Overland (first 200 miles). I have to say the "build quality" is outstanding. However, being as quiet a cabin as it is, unfortunately amplifies any "small" noises / rattles. With the sunshade on my pano-roof all the way open (back), I'm noticing an annoying creaking/rattling noise which appears to be coming somewhere from the inside of the roof of the vehicle.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same and if (wishful thinking) it's just perhaps all the materials "settling in"?

I keep the shade open most all of the time and I have heard no creaking or rattling sound. You might open and close it a few times and see if that helps (but you probably have already done that). Nice to have all that sky!

Yeah, I definitely prefer to have it open. Gonna have my wife take me for a ride this weekend while I sit in the back seat and see if I can determine exactly where it's coming from! :banghead:

No noises from mine here. Sometimes I have it open, sometimes closed.

Once I did hear a creaking, but it was the cargo cover- when it's pulled over the cargo area you do potentially get some noise over bumps.

I noticed a noise from my panoramic sunroof within a couple days of driving mine - I took it in the dealer and they fixed it - it was a cross threaded screw that needed replacement.

Check that the rear outboard shoulder belts are retracted all the way up. One of my passengers got out and left one twisted which caused the buckle to rattle against the plastic.

Yeah, checked the Seatbelts. Wasn't that. Sounds like something up top. Gonna have to keep checking. Hoping its not something I'm gonna have to bring it to the dealer for. Not anxious to have a service tech climbing all over my brand new Frost Beige leather interior.

I leave my shade open most of the time and notice no rattles. However I do have a dirty spot on the shade that I noticed on day 2...need to try cleaning it...

You are not crazy. I have the same rattle you are describing when the shade is open. Must be something in the roller mechanism. The noice is up in the headliner behind the second row. It's quiet when the shade is closed. We only have 400 miles on it but it was there from day one. My wifes drives it and it doesn't bother her (I don't hear anything...) so it can wait until the first oil change.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!! My Overland only has 200 miles on it at present, and this noise also has been there from day one! It does seem to be a bit less noticeable when the shade is closed, but I can still hear it even then. Unfortunately, I'm one of the nit-pickiest people you'll ever meet when it comes to my cars, and this noise is DRIVING ME NUTS!! The build quality on the interior of this vehicle is really first rate and extremely quiet, but unfortunately you hear every single little thing out place when it occurs. This "rattle/noise" is something I can't live with!!

I'm going to have my wife drive this weekend while I sit in the back seat and try touching different areas of the roof to see if I can get it to stop and determine exactly where it's coming from. If I can, at least that's less I'll have to leave to the service department. Have you tried doing this?

Yes, I'm like you playing seek and destroy with squeaks and rattles. I have heard it some with the shade closed, but not like it being open. I was driving the Jeep and pulled over, climbed in the back seat to gently "pound" on the headliner. (It didn't work...) but prompted the "I don't hear anything..." comment. Since I'm the one who gets the cars serviced, it can wait since she "can't hear it".
It has to be a cable or the screw drive mechanisms on the sides. If you find a solution, drop me a note.
