Trouble with a high idle speed.
Hey guys. I hate that the only time i come on here is for help. lol i would hang out with any of the guys local to the Buford GA Area (NE Outer perimeter atlanta). but nobody invites me... so there! :poke:

anyways. i have a 2002 WJ Limited with the 4.7. its got about 125k.

recently i noticed the RPMs at idle would bounce... normal is about 650rpm when in park. but some times I'll notice it rev up or down to as much as 1500RPM. even with the AC off. i find if i rev it up my self.. the engine will level out. i am thinking this has to do with maybe a stuck throttle or throttle cable. i have yet to tear into it. i will probably open it up and have a look tonight.

i was hoping i could get some feed back or any suggestions that i could look at while i am in there.

Re: Trouble with a high idle speed.
The idle speed is controlled by the Idle Air Control Stepper motor on the throttle body (via the PCM). Normally the plunjer on this motor gets quite dirty and also the air passage. Remove the IAC motor, clean it well and also clean out well the idle air passage. This normally will do the trick.
On the same page as your thread, there is an other thread named " Lopey idle on an 02' Overland / 4.7HO" which shows some pictures of it.
