I've had Sirius since Stern starting on it and use it 90% for his show...since I can't seem to find a channel that plays today's hit uncensored without DJs/Morning shows yapping it up.

In general things have declined. I've subscribed to XM since 2003. After the merger, the playlists on XM matched those of Sirius- much shallower, but at least they didn't mess about and use radio edits (usually). The DJs have gotten yappier, the cost has risen, and they still have not integrated any billing if you have vehicles with radios on both systems- you have to maintain two separate accounts, don't get family plan pricing, and it's generally a pain in the butt.

I tried the Sirius stations on my 430N yesterday and was dismayed at the poor audio quality. The music is heavily compressed, giving that "heard through a tin can" effect you get at low bit rates. The talk channels are fine -- this is a great day to listen to the POTUS Politics channel -- but I can't see paying money for this next year.

This post gives the individual channel bit rates. The music stations are allocated 40 kbps. For comparison, a crappy MP3 file uses 128 kbps; the average listener needs 256 kbps or better to avoid digital artifacts. An analog FM radio station has quality equivalent to 64 kbps.
