Hey everyone. I'm getting a daystar 2 inch lift kit(spacers) for my wj next month for my bday and I would like to see pictures of anyone who has lifted their wj. So pictures with info would be great to get me more excited :D thanks!

Did you use the shocks provided with that lift? I'm looking at getting the same lift but have heard rumors of bad shocks. Any experiences?

So far so good but the original shocks were worn out so anything was an improvement. The shocks are just plain hydros so I'm sure a good set of gas shocks would be a plus. Over all though I'm satisfied with them for now. Also they're much beefier than the stockers.

Hi Michael,

I put the Daystar Kit in about 2 weeks ago - it's fairly easy too. I'm 61 years old and I did it by myself in about 5.5 hours. I only wish that I had thought ahead and bought my shocks then too. You have to disconnect each shock to let the axles drop enough to get the coils out. It would have been pretty easy to replace them while I was in there. BTW, I bought a pair of coil spring compressors from Harbor Freight Tools - they made the job a helluva lot easier! Anyway, here's a few shots of it with 16X8 ProComp Xtreme Steel wheels and 265/70R16 General Grabber AT2 tires:

Hope this helps! There's more pics on my web site. (The one in my sig)

I should be getting my 2" daystar and Bilstein 5100s installed in the next 10 days. Will post pics once its done.

Question for all: I want to upgrade my wheels later this year to the silver/gray Hulk Commander wheels and run at minimum stock size tires. Problem is, General doesn't make 235/65R17s (haven't found any). I LOVE those tires and will need new ones this year and want to get the same brand.

With the 2" life, I know I can do a 31" tire. But what's the best Grabber At2 to get without any trimming? I don't go wheeling, these are more for show and everyday driving.

Here is what General offers in the Grabber AT2s (I currently have stock size on my 16" wheels):

245/70R17 110S SL OWL 15447730000 30.5 17.5 38.6 44 9.8 (7.0) 6.5 - 8.0 16/32 684 2337
255/65R17 110S SL OWL 15447710000 30.1 18.2 40.2 44 10.2 (7.5) 7.0 - 9.0 16/32 693 2337
265/65R17 112S SL OWL 15447810000 30.6 18 39.6 44 10.7 (8.0) 7.5 - 9.5 16/32 681 2469
265/65R17 112T SL BSW 15449010000 30.6 18.3 40.5 44 10.7 (8.0) 7.5 - 9.5 16/32 681 2469

Also, if I go from stock 16s to a 2" lifted minimal stock 17s, will I need spacers? I just don't want to do any trimming.

I would say the 245's would clear without worry. My 265's required not only trimming the bumper but lots of creative bending of the inner fender liners both in front of and behind the wheels. As for spacers, I can't answer that... yet! I am in the process of having my stock wheels powder coated dark gray. When finished, I will put the current Grabbers on the stock wheels and sell the ProComps. Once I mount the stockers, I'll know better - I already have SpiderTrax spacers but they're in the garage, not on the Jeep. Unfortunately, I am having back surgery on Tuesday :( so it may be a while before I get to finish this project. Wheels should be done tomorrow but there's no way I can get everything to happen before Tuesday. I'll pipe in when the wheels are on and let you know what happened with the spacer/no spacer controversy! Bye for now...

Thanks a bunch. I adore the AT2s and want to stick with them. Can't wait to see your PC'd wheels! Be sure to post a pic. What stock wheels do you have?

Good luck with your surgery!

You're gonna notice that your truck will always look shorter in pics. At least that's what I've noticed
