What do I need to install an AVIC-X930BT in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hello all,

Sorry if this has been posted else where, I have searched the web and found some similar posts, but I'm still confused. I am not savvy when it comes to auto electronics.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the factory CD player in it (Not the navigation unit). I want to upgrade to the AVIC-X930BT. I have searched the web to see if a double din unit would fit in my Jeep and I have been getting different answers. On the crutchfield site, after putting my car info in, it says it will NOT FIT. I talked to a Best Buy salesman, and they said it will but I will have to buy a harness and a kit for it to fit (But the lady didn't know what part #'s they were, she said to google them). Can someone please help me? Can it fit in my Jeep and are these the right parts that I need?

On another post, the mentioned the the Metra 99-6510 Dash Kit located here

But I also found this here. Which Kit do I need?

For the harness, is this what I need? Harness. Or is it something completely different?

Please help, I need to know if it will fit in a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and if so, what kit and harness do I need?

Here is what I plan on getting:

AVIC-X930BT
iPod cable (CD-1U50V)
Sirius Satellite Package (CD-SB10 and SCC1)
Steering Wheel Controls (Axxess ASWC) - I need this to keep the volume and change track buttons on my steering wheel working, right? (Not 100% sure if I'm going to get this or not).

Thanks for any help!

If you do not have the nav, you ill need to get a bezel with the nav opening for it to fit properly. I do not recall off hand which harnesses you will need, but if you go to pac audios website, it'll list the harnesses you need.

you need the new dash piece, along with the dash install kit. you will need that harness along with the amp bypass adapter if you have a factory amp (located under side panels in cargo area, driver side)

Once you get the dash kit and the harness it will be a easy install. and that Axxess ASWC is super easy to hook up, and it works great. i got all my stuff at http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ they seem to have better prices than crutchfield. and if you have any questions just call them up and they will answer them.

i added the avic f90BT to my 07; i had sat radio and BA suystem with steering wheel controls but NO nav/

SO I NEEDED A NAV BEZEL to match my grey.

I have this mess: HARNESS
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...R-CHY4v1-.html

then i got this thing PIONEER SAT ADAPTER
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...paign=froogle#

as well as NEW SAT BOX. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Q9UFKU/...SIN=B000Q9UFKU

oh and dont forget this STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-PS-Pio.../dp/B000AXW7SA

my nav came with GPS antenna so I didnt need that./

I added an iPOD cable I dont have the info

you also need an adapter for the chrysler AM/FM antenna to work http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...R9DZ36XBRWFYW6

and the METRA KIT to make a DD work in the OEM NAZV BEZEL./

i also did the complete kicker upgrade at the same time. AMP/ 6 speakers/ single sub/

Thank you all for the helpful information! I'm looking at different websites for all the parts I need to see where I can get the best price! I'm pretty excited, at first I didn't think I would be able to fit a double din radio in my Jeep. It looks like it will be pretty expensive, but I think worth it since I'm in my car about 2 hours a day just to and from work!

After this purchase, its time to save. I want a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee so bad. I'm glad I found this site, I've seen some awesome pictures of Jeeps so far!

yes. i have the same set up. i had to run the amp bypass wires from the amp to the new headunit.
robpp listed a good write up above with internet places you can get them from.
installation is not bad just time consuming.
luckily i have a local shop by me that did it basically for cost(i refer atleast one person a week to them)

I have this:

Instead of this:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...2R-CHY4v1.html

Will this work for the BA system? Is there a difference between these two harnesses
