Yep, as of today, added another new Jeep (2011 GC) to the family.

The new Jeep count now stands at:

Me: 5 New GCs, 1 New Wrangler.
Parents: 4 New GCs.
Brother: 1 New GC.
Sister: 1 New GC.

So, that's a DOZEN new Jeeps my immediate family has bought throughout the years...estimating about $400K MSRP. Pretty good customer eh?

How long of a span would you say that is including all members (parents, you and siblings?) 5, 10 or 20? on supporting Jeep!

Re: As of today - 12 New Jeeps - $400,000

I started the whole thing buying a 1993 GC in the fall of 1992 (1993 was the first model year for Grand Cherokees). And I have continuously owned a GC ever since (along with some second vehicles and a third at one time too). Always sold my old GC myself. Had a 1993, 1998 (5.9L Limited!), 2002, 2005, and 2011. And a 2002 Wrangler.

Parents just traded in a 2005 GC for a 2011 GC today. In 2005 my parents were looking at getting a new GC since the model had just made a major change and got me to take a look so then got a 2005 to replace my 2002. This time around I got them looking after getting my Summit.

Sister only had one GC and sadly owns a new $80K Lexus monster.

Brother only had one GC too and has a big Tahoe (at least an American vehicle).

As I was writing this, just realized we all have big V8's too even if not all GCs.....I'm sure none of us get good gas milage....oh well.

That's some serious loyalty. I'm the opposite. I never buy the same model twice. There are too many cars I want to own.

Your family has the carbon footprint of a small country. Just kidding I will own many GC's down the road as well.

I always loved the first and second gen GC... the third, absolutely hated... and now the fourth, Jeep hit a homerun.

This WK2, however, is my first Grand Cherokee and if they keep this up and keep pushing the ball up the court, I'd definitely buy another. They certainly left the old WK in the dust...

My Jeep purchase history:
  • 1990 Cherokee Laredo (bought used)
  • 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo (lease)
  • 2004 Wrangler Columbia Edition
  • 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo
  • 2007 Wrangler Unlimited
  • And now - 2011 Grand Cherokee 70th Anniversary in Bronze Star Pearlcoat
On this last purchase the finance manager just looked across the desk at me and said, "You're not going to own this Jeep for a long time, are you?" That was his recognizing that selling me an extended warranty was futile. I will be owning this one for five years though and replacing it with the 75th Anniversary Edition. :D

Dan,

We have a somewhat similar trail but I started earlier than you.
My first was a 1976 Wagoneer followed by a 1986 Wagoneer Limited.
Then there was a 1993 Laredo followed by two 1998s, a Laredo and a 5.9
Limited ( wasn't that a neat vehicle, especially with that exhaust note? ).
Then I had a 2001 Laredo, a 2008 Overland and, now, the 2011 Summit.

I just saw one in Bronze Star Pearlcoat- kind of neat and certainly unique!

Thanks, it seems to be pretty rare at the moment and I love the color.
