Which one to get?

Ok need some help here, now that the wife has her Summit she now wants to get the lockpick. Which one do we go with? Do I have her get the MYGIG or the CHR550? Need a little help with this since the new ones are out now.

Yeah probably should have mentioned I have the new 730 RHR, so not sure which one to get.

Re: Which one to get?

I have the RHR as well. I've never used/seen the LockPick before but looking at the Coastal Tech web site, it appears the CHR550 includes more video inputs and control of iPhone/Touch/iPad devices. Here's what the site says about the CHR550:

WANT MORE??
HOW ABOUT FULL IPOD IPHONE IPAD INTEGRATION
WITH MUSIC, PHOTOS, VIDEO, PANDORA RADIO, NETFLIX AND MORE!!

Also I found the CHR550 at SolidSignal (see price). I bought a lot of satellite equipment from them through the years.

Re: Which one to get?

It just depends on what you need/want. The regular lockpick enables navigation tweaks/video in motion as well as having a rear view camera input, and turning on the rear view camera at any time.

The CHR550 adds to the lockpick with an ipod cable that allows you to control your ipod via the steering wheel controls. It does not allow control via the touchscreen. It also has inputs for additional cameras (front, rear, left and right sides). You can also show videos from apps that support the ipod video out like you tube etc. The gui on the CHR550 is not the cleanest and the steering wheel control works but is not to brag about.

Bottom line, if you just need video in motion and the navigation restrictions bypassed, the mygig does the trick. If you want additional bells and whistles, the CHR550 is what you need.

Army rxp keep us posted on which one you get and difficulty of installation. I'm in the market too and would like to stream my slingbox to 730

Will do, I think the wife will get the 550 and have me do the install around Labor Day when I'm home on R&R before our trip. Still have no idea where we are going to go yet as she wants to go to DC and the Beach and White Water Rafting and my Brother-in-law wants to take me on a tour of Baretta (he works there) so probably going to get expensive here soon!!! Will take pics and post how it was.
