Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

So i have an Overland wheel ready to go (has the harness already attached), I have the heated SW button and the corresponding heated seat control module. I have read on other forums that the clock spring should be the same...i just want to make sure i dont need to change that before i start taking the wheel and dash apart. Does anyone know if i should be good to put her under the knife?

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

dont get to excited... I only have some questions

I've seen the steering wheels on ebay and have talked to the seller, but I have not been able to find the other items that are needed - the HSW button and harness (are there two harness? 1 in the dash, one in the steering column).

I wanted a Limited with Lux2 and couldn't find one so bought without and have been searching for parts to do this upgrade (as it should be fairly easy and inexpensive and possibly the others (depending on cost). I was also trying to find a black leather HSW instead of the Overland Wood HSW. Figured I may be able to buy the black leather HSW from a Limited w/ Lux2 owner that swapped for the Overland Wood HSW.

Any information that you can share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

I picked up the button (which is actually all 6 buttons on the panel) and heat module from this site...

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=213674

Both together ran me $90 with shipping.

I actually have a few fully assembled wheels (one non-heated leather, 2 overland and 1 overland summit) with the harness and there are two clips coming out of each. The heated wheels have a different clip on one side, obviously due to the heat elements. I just need to pull my wheel off and see if the clockspring is universal. If it is then it should be good to go.

I will probably attempt this at the same time as my exhaust install (should only be another week or so) I will update you on what i find out.

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

Fantastic, thanks. Ya, I assumed it was an entire replacement panel - so difficult to determine which is the appropriate item though as there are so many variations depending on installed features.

I was looking in the eMopar store weeks, if not months, back for the part but nothing was available so no price was listed. Good to know that trademotion is carrying the items now andat a reasonable cost. Guess it was a simply a matter of time before there was a sufficient supply of replacement parts available.

Do you have the part numbers on-hand? Trademotion is not the easiest to navigate through.

One more request... before and during install pics would be great.

Thanks again!

Yes i couldn't agree with you more...very confusing to navigate through their part inventory.

The part number for the 6-gang switch is 56046294AB and the heat module is 5026632AK.

I will definitely document the project with pics for ya. Stay tuned!

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

Thanks,

When I was looking though the parts I came across the following:

Collision Catalog - 2011 - Jeep - Grand Cherokee
Steering column, Shroud switches and levers, Combo switch, W/heated steering wheel, Black - MSRP $389.00, Your Price $281.93

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=213674&cha pter=&sectionids=22,2561&groupid=51860&subgroupid= 2566&componentid=67525&make=17&model=Grand%20Chero kee&year=2011&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0

Any idea what this is? I was unaware of any type of switch located on the steering column for the Heated Steering Wheel. Especially a switch for $300.

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

There is a harness that comes out of each combo switch and for the heated wheels the harness is different on one side. Man that is a lot of cheese for just the switches! Good thing our jeeps came with them ;)

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

well it turns out that the clock spring is different, the port for the heat harness is there but there are no contacts in it. I will start tracking that down this week.

Wood wheel is on and looks great! It is a shade off from the limited trim but in the sunlight you can barely even tell. I hooked up the heated sw button on the dash but didnt get the heated seat module installed since im on hold until i locate the correct clock spring. Stay tuned!

Re: Installing heated wheel on WK2 Limited w/o Lux package

Sweet!!

Any thoughts on where you will find the Clock Spring? Is it a Mopar/Jeep specific item or just a general item?

Did you take any pics of your install process? I am hoping yes :)

I've been scouring the net for a black leather HSW, yet to find one.
