What needs to be done?

So I'm driving on some windy roads on Sunday to my parents house and was just playing around and decided to put my car in neutral on a downhill stretch. Went to make the next turn and I had no power steering...because the car stalled out. Found myself drifting in the other lane, luckily no cars were coming.

I used to have the erratic idle and stallout and I've read through the threads on that. I changed my PCV and spark plugs a couple weeks ago and things seemed to be going fine.

Sure I could just not put it in neutral, but I'm concerned because prior to the PCV/SP change my car used to stall when in drive. Not trying to get in an accident because my car turns off when it feels like it.

I know the EGR is mentioned when discussing these problems; could that cause this? Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Don't want to fix things that aren't broken.

Thanks everyone.

I have an 06 5.7 and I've had a few instances where my ride stalled while in drive, going down the highway doing nothing. I took it to the dealership to have PCM flashed to latest firmware. They told me that it was at the latest and only my FCM needed to be flashed. That's been about 3 months and (knock on wood) it hasnt occurred since. Might check that...?

if your idle drops to low, it is very easy to stall out. used to happen alot on my jeep until i had something flashed at the dealer (cant remember what) and i replace my egr valve

EGR valve is a common failure that could easily cause this!

Also a VERY common problem for idle issues on the 4.7 is the Throttle position sensor. If you grab the connector on the TPS (while its still connected, vehicle running) and wiggle it, if your idle freaks out you need a new TPS.
