ABS light
Hi All, my ABS light is on in my 99 JBC 4.7. Could this be a sensor issue? Any tips on where to start?

Re: ABS light
Best place to start is to find someone that has an abs code reader. ABS codes are separate from the check engine trouble codes and wont show up with a regular scanner or the key dance. Also try checking and cleaning all of your wheel sensors. Sometimes you get debris in there. That happened to mine once.

x2 on the cleaning part. I thought I broke mine on a trail, but I hit it woth some compressed air to get mud off, and the light went away after I got up to like 15mph.

Also check the connectors for the front ABS sensors, they are in a fulnerable place and can collect moisture/get corroded.

I have to climb mountains, drive through cow pastures and navigat through swamps building cell towers and I often have my ABS light go off...I have checked with the code reader and it is very random...heres why. Debris can get lodged on the sensors and before I start the process of replacing it; I go the car wash and spray all around the inside of the rotor and caliper assemblies with nothing but water. So far - it has worked every time. One other suggestion - if you can upgrade to EBS Power Stop slotted and cross drilled rotors; you will certainly minimize the chances of debris getting on your sensors.
