what causes Tinted Tails to get warped ?

Only tinted stock tails get warped because of the heat the halogen bulb creates. The solution is either LED bulbs in the stockers or LED tails that you have to send out to get tinted.

^^^ I cosign that.... Mine would get warm but they never got hot (when I checked on them) But they're warping a lil bit only in the reflection. To look at them from the side they look fine.

Yup... May not totally prevent it but it cuts the risk down a lot.

This thread is confusing me. Tail lights don't have halogen bulbs? I think the paint absorbs the heat from the regular bulbs AND reacts with the Lexan. Just a guessing though.

Re: what causes Tinted Tails to get warped ?

so the paint makes the tinted tails warp??? because the tails get too hot when tinted?

I'm working with Lipschitz on a harness to install LED bulbs in the stock lenses. Stay tuned for a result next week.

The stock bulbs heat up the housing causing problems, kinda end of story.

the only way to fix is to replace the stock bulbs with ones that dont get so hot....like LED's

in order to replace the stock bulbs with LED's they need to be wired correctly, with a resistor. Lipschitz is wiring me up a plug-n-play LED set up.

imo i believe its the heat from the stock bulbs that makes the new paint get hot and causes the warping from the inside.

I don't think so. Halogen 1157, or 3157 bulbs are $20.00 a pair and are extremely bright. The stock tailights are regular bulbs.
I think.

I thought all cars use polycarbonate lense tailight lenses.
Lexan is GEs tradename for polycarbonate.
