Updated New Pictures! Stealthbox/Audio Control Installed thus far

So I dont have any pictures of me ripping the rear of the Jeep apart, nor putting it back together but snatch some pictures of the aftermath. I havent run the amp, or anything yet but installed the stealthbox, I like the fit and finish and its pretty straightforward JL actually provides instructions. I noticed a parking assist module in the rear compartment was just barely in the way so I relocated it to a bolt that holds the sub, works fine still. I have dark frost beige/lt frost interior and the stealthbox was made to match the carpet (dark frost beige), it was rated as a "good" match, not perfect or excellent nor fair. I would put it between fair/good. Its brown but not as dark brown as the true Chrysler dark frost beige but tolerable, its not like its a cream trying to match a brown. Probably took about 2-3 hours to get the box in.. the trim all situated and then reinstalled.

Below are a couple of intro Iphone camera shots before night fully set on..

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

Factory Power= Blow on the sub and I think I provide more cone movement..

I don't have it hooked up at the moment, I rigged it for a few minutes, but factory power is nothing more then the stock sub it just can't push enough to it. However with the sub disconnected the sound in the interior is still very similar, the stock sub doesn't do much...

^Once you get proper power to an aftermarket sub, I would also recommend installing a sub level control knob.

Awesome post, I miss my stealthbox from '02 Overland. Where did you order it from - crutchfield and JL don't have it online. Also, where do you think you will install the amp?

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

I ordered it from a local authorized dealer, got it for 575 + tax. MSRP is 699. Amp is the hardest part, still not sure yet.. One member has it under the rear passenger seat and another mounted them in the wheel well under the floor, but I dont think my Kicker amp from my last setup will fit in either.. :/ I think I may take apart the rear driver side interior quarter panel and see whats behind there, might be a bunch of free space... The factory amp is on the same side but mounted on the floor, you can access it from under the floor via the wheel well without taking the side panel off, just have to remove the black wheel well box by taking off the rear Sill (two hooks) then pop up... Then remove two phillips screws behind the seats one on each side under the flaps and the two rear nuts by the back hatch, pull up and it exposes the wheel well area. Hard to describe but once you start taking it apart you'd see.

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

thanks for posting, seriously considering it. I may end up doing it in stages just like you. I also have a kicker amp (and a 10" solo-baricL7) from previous install. obviously if i go with stealthbox then i wouldnt use the kicker sub. but also considering making custom fiberglass box myself. started making one for my last vehicle but gave up and went with just a rectangular MDF box.

Re: Stealthbox Installed thus far

Nice! I myself am considering replacing factory sub, as I don't think it does much. Not to get off topic, but since you have already seen whats behind that panel, if I were to simply replace the speaker with a much better one of same size, do you think there is enough space in there to put a separate amp? Trying to avoid having to put it anywhere else...

Thanks!
