Double key fob operation...normal?

Here is the behavior I'm seeing...
  1. Person 1 enters vehicle with Key Fob 1...vehicle unlocks and lights turn on
  2. Person 2 enters front passenger side with Key Bob 2...lights flash again
Is this considered "normal"? We didn't notice this when the car was new...

Sounds normal. At least that is the way mine works.

it's normal, you can actually go into your system options on the computer with the steering wheel controlers and turn the lights off so those don't come on and you can change the function of the door locking/unlocking if you don't like how it is now.

Yes, that's how it works on mine. Try touching the handle on the driver's side again after you have already touched it once to unlock it. The lights will flash again just like when someone on the passenger side does it after you have unlocked it.

Don't you mean Person 2 enters the front passenger side with FOB 2?

The way the system works is, if someone in proximity to the door touches the door handle it will initiate the unlock sequence (whatever you have programmed in the EVIC). If the passenger doesn't have a FOB on their person then the lights won't flash, if they do, they will. That's the way mine has worked from day one.

Yes I did mean person 2...corrected original post. :o

We thought that the lights also flashed while the Jeep was already running which I thought was strange, but more testing is needed to confirm.

Thanks for everyone's input. Have had the Jeep for almost 2 months and 2500 miles, and I'm hoping we will avoid any electrical gremlins...

Re: Double key fob operation...normal?

It definitely will flash the lights when the engine is running if it was remote started. I haven't noticed it one way or the other after it was started normally. If I'm going to get in and start it I usually wait until all of the passengers are in with their doors closed before I start it up. I guess it's my parenting safety genes.
