WK2 Hitch Install

6 Attachment(s)
I too went ahead and added an after market hitch to my GC. It was very easy to install and I ordered it with the 7pin / 4 pin combo adapter. The GC had the trailer wiring already under the bumper so it was a plug and play. I used a Draw-
Tite hitch. It looks great and the receiver does not stick out past the bumper. I finished it with a Jeep receiver cover.

Looks good, seems like a straight forward install with the harness under the bumper that makes it much easier for people looking to install after the fact or for those who couldnt find the one they wanted with a hitch. Thanks for the pictures!

Hey everyone - new WK2 owner here. 2011 Limited 5.7 to be exact.

I didn't get a factory hitch with mine, but like the look of the integrated one. Any info on where I can get the factory hitch set-up and fitted bumper???

I indeed recommend the mopar hitch. Where can you get it? Authorized mopar parts place, aka dealership.

Thanks - I think it's the way to go. I like the integrated look into the bumper - pretty bummed that mine didn't just have it and I have to go back for it, but not a biggie.

Turns out that, regardless of which hitch you have, U-Haul won't rent a trailer if you're going to pull it with a Ford Explorer (even the 2011 model) or Jeep Wrangler sans hardtop. Any GC is fine, however.

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

Would it be ok installing this with a racket set in lieu of a torque wrench?

Better to err on the side of tighter?

I will be using it for a bike rack, not towing

Thanks

Good post, I am need of installing one myself. What brand of aftermarket hitch did you get? I think the mopar one is under $300.

What was the part number for the 7pin / 4 pin combo adapter? I have the wiring under the bumper but want to make sure I order the correct part. Thanks in advance.

That looks good.

I'm ordering these parts from etrailer for my 2012 Laredo (no pre-wire).

Draw-tite #75699 $146.95
Tow Ready T-one Wiring harness #118425 $24.95
Mounting bracket 4-pole #18144 $3.19

I'll have to remove the rear tow-hook but the install looks fairly simple.
