View window for airbox

I'm thinking of using a hole saw and cutting a hole in the top and/or bottom half of my airbox and then epoxying a piece of plexi on the inside. This is just so I can visually check the airfilter without having to open it up.

I know some after market housings include this viewing window.

Has anyone cut a hole like this in their stock airbox?

stock air box is a turd, i dont think anyone did it yet, but give it a shot, the only downside i can really see is that u need to look at the under side to see the real dirt and such.

yeah viewing the underside may not be easy.

the issue I have is that the diesel airbox is not available from aftermarket suppliers yet with the viewing window.

u really dont need a window, or a box...do they have a cone filter setup?

also, these intakes are just cheap ass bent tubes. if u wanted to do a metal one you could hit up and exhaust shop and have them make you one, should be cheaper then buying it from someone

I know this doesn't answer your question, but personally I'd look into a CAI solution as John suggests.

It's only 4 clips to get access to the filter anyways and unless you see the bottom you'll never know the true condition of it...

airbox is in the photo, you can see it with the k&n sticker, ignore the nutdriver sticking out of the engine cover. :)

You can but there is a sensor right on top of the air box that you have to put on the cone filter. That stoped me from putting on my cone filter that I have here.
