Royal purple questions

I have a 06 4.7 G.C.
My question is i'm thinking about switching over to R.P
5/30. so what is the best oil filter i can use with it (or)
should i use the R.P oil filter?
Question #2 I'm also thinking about switching my front &
rear axle oil to R.P to 75/140 So do i still need to put the
additive in it (or) is it already in the R.P?
Any info would be much app.
Thank guys
JOE

Re: Royal purple questions

If you have the 4.7 then that comes with LSD and the additive is recommended however RP comes with additive

And RP is good but you don't have a performance car so any regular synthetic would do also on oil filters there is a member here who posted in depth analysis of oil filters I forgot the thread but you might search it and see if you can find

I use K&N filters because I like how they are and easy to take off

RP doesn't play nice with MDS...if you have it equipped.

RP HATES MDS... that said, get a Mopar, Mobil 1 or K/N filter, those are the top choices.

Royal Purple might come with an additive but I have a poor analogy to this: Would you spend the money for both shampoo and conditioner or settle for the 2 in 1 bottle? :)

My Jeep HATED royal purple. I'd suggest what everyone else says. I use mobile 1 w a k&n oil filter n couldn't be happier! Gl

RP is perfect if you don't have MDS. There is a thread in this already.

I've heard a lot about WK owners not liking RP engine oil. For the diffs, I'd say go for it. Be prepared to pay almost $20 a bottle though. Additive is not needed if you're using RPO gear oil.

I like K&N oil filters for the same reason as DJ B...no more stupid strap wrench or oil filter wrench. They have a nut welded to the top so you can put a regular old' 1" wrench on it.

My $.02 is Amsoil for everything engine/diffs. If you have LSD add the additive that they sell.

I use RP 5w-20 on my 09 4.7 with a K&n filter and it works great

I'm a fan of the mobile1 for my oil...I do see a diff with MDS. For my diffs, I've been using RP with the mopar limited slip, even though RP is said not to need it. I've been happy running that combo with improved experience.
